I just got a power commander 5 and two maps loaded onto it and want to wire my own switch into it to switch between the two maps. It gives instructions on wire to connect the switch to but I’m unsure of when the switch is in open state what map it will be on and closed state. Any experience with this ?

Been a while since I've touch my power commander, but it stands to reason that the switch is normally open. ...obvious because the two terminals are open when no switch is attached. Therefore, shorting out the terminal will change your map.

Yea I had the same problem. Easiest way is to throw a ‘60’ fuel value at idle on one of your maps. Hook it all up and you’ll know when it goes rich. Will most likely die from over fueling.
