what kind of oil goes into a shifter for a polaris sportsman 500

I have the same problem on my 2004 Sportsman 700 EFI

amsoil series 2000 chaincase lube

I put in the AGL trans fluid but you only fill to the bottom of the fill plug which is like 10 inches lower than the shifter linkage on the tranny. Im guessing there is no tranny oil where the shifter linkage is. I've heard of guys spraying the crap out of it with WD40 after they wash it...have to try this. Just re-read the thread and realized that I didn't actually explain my problem....my shifter keeps freezing every winter-but not sure why?
