We were doing trail maintenance in MINISTIK over the past 3 weekends and drilled about 8 holes on the ice

There is less than 2" of ice on the lakes and ponds, due to the 6-10" of snow blanketing the ice

The beaver runs have almost no ice and open water in places

Also the springs are warming up the thin ice and what ice was there is now melting, even to the point of melting the snow on top of the lakes, leaving open water or just slush with no ice under it.

The snow protected the ice from freezeing down in early November when we have the very cold spell

our minus -10 to 0 or Plus temps will not freeze the lakes anytime soon either with the snow load

To sum up you have to STAY OFF THE ICE until we hit some very cold temps in December
(no cold weather forcasted for Edmonton Area for the rest of November)

As a S&M member stated "There is no one that wants to fish your dead body out of the ice/lake"

REMINDER - Ministik is CLOSED until December 1 with 6" of snow.
We will POST as soon as ASRD opens the gates.
Almost all trails have been cleared and we will be ready for December 1 opening but NO ICE/LAKE RIDING until we have at least 4" if ice
