no start

just rebuilt the motor in a 1979 ski doo citation, and it will not start ,i get a backfire thats it,was running pryor too rebuild had a bad piston,coils are new carbs is clean ,any help would be appreciated. it is a 300 cc twin

Sounds like the timming is out.

those old girls had points that had to be set up. pull the starter rewind to get at them, quick fix. had to gap them a couple times a year on my old citation ss to keep it running pristine
