Hmmm, Seems like I always have a newer sled and dirtbike but my vehicles are always older and only worth a small % of the toys. Weird. Shows where my priorities lie.

I know most on here are from redneck AB, wear ballcaps, workboots and have wallets wearing through their pockets and start of their sentences with curse words or "hey buddy", eat lots of fast food and are scruffy looking but,..ooops, lost my point again (don't get me going on rednecks lol). Point was, I just don't seem to need a big new towering truck. I know most of you love your trucks and have it all, and thats ok, I like em too, your rednecks or still redneck apprentices taking lessons, but do YOU feel the need to HAVE new new NEW? Or would you settle for less? That is the question.

PS: most of my friends are varying % level of the rednecker affliction and I'm still taking and re-taking RN Course 101 for 10 yrs now it seems.

I'm with ya there man. My trucks almost 20yrs old. Toys worth a whole lot more. cheap ass car to bomb around in when I am not hauling something. But I ride bikes all summer and together my 2 streetbikes value is probly 4 times the car and truck combined. and that's just what I drive on the road. not to mention the dirtbikes, quads, and sleds. Does that make me a redneck?? Maybe so... I suppose everyone has their own priorities, and I like nice new trucks as much as the next guy, but for the amount I would use it, I really don't need (or honestly can afford) the extra vehicle payment. new trucks are just stupid expensive! And I don't have a job that pays me stupid amounts of money...

I like my vehicles to be new. I work on truck all day long, so I just want to jump in my pickup and go. Add fuel and change oil when needed. The wife on the other hand is perfectly happy with older vehicles and her bike as long as it works. The problem I have is fixing her stuff when, again, I work on it all day long I don't want to come home and do it. Now working on my bikes, quad or sled is a different thing. Now I have a hoist and a nice garage I enjoy it. Heading out there soon to work on the KTM.

I'm almost in that club, my money is split equally between my truck and sled, granted I have more than I initially paid for my truck into it in aftermarket parts so that increases my total investment into it. But I also consider it a summer toy, so I'm not sure how I'd calculate that?

Hah! You dirty dog! Get out there and get that thing in order! Lol. Nice bike.
My last truck cost me 2 G and I just went through everything and made it good. I just can't justify spending huge $$ for a commuter/work vehicle. Now a classic, thats different...

I noticed things are the same way with camping. I've always tented it, very comfortably mind you, but now it's a huge race for the next biggest toy hauler. It started out with most of my friends tenting. Then some got old campers and so on...
I do have a Klassy Kamp Van 1984 E150. She's a treat but it works for me with the ole straight six(I love that motor). I refuse to get into a race that can never be won.

When it comes to vehicles I like the older stuff, simple easy to work on, no sensors computers or safety features.
My summer car is a 1958
My winter truck is a 1965

My snowmobiling truck is an 07 (I want to be that guy, when I'm 60+ to say I bought that brand new and still have it).

But my toys I like brand new. It is weird.

If it is looked after, it lasts. If it is ridden/driven hard, it wears out. My truck will last. My sled, well, we will see.

My truck is an 06, trailer is an 11 and the car pool car is 00 split 4 ways. My sleds are 09 and 13. I am happy with my truck. The combined income of my carpool is over $500,000 a year and we drive a 2000 Sunfire. We actually just made a deal on a $3500 2002 Intrepid to replace the Sunfire.

I run 2013 sleds, a 2013 motorcycle, and a 2007 truck. For what I do it makes NO sense to take a new truck and beat the hell out of it. Wife needs a reliable vehicle as I'm out of town a lot - hers is considerably newer then mine (2011). House is basic, and built in 1976. I buy new, so I know the history (maintenance) of everything I own, and take care of it.

im kinda in the same boat... i drive an 02 Cummins 6 speed with 310000 km on it... would keep it forever as the engine has never towed more then 5000lbs... but its rusting... i bought that used at 3 years old and save half the price... im the guy that likes to buy slightly used and keep it nice!

Wife drives a 12 f150 why... cause she hauls the kids around and i can't have them dead on the side of the road without me when they drive back to BC... my quad is new, my mortgage gets doubled down whenever we can...if i don't keep a vehicle 12 years i think you lost money!!!

i just inherited grand pa's 1995 cummins in mint cond 92 000km, one accident but dealer fixed (no expense spared) hasn't started in 5 years but had been in a heated garage... that truck will probably last me forever except not enough room... still not sure if i will sell it

do you guys pull wrenches yourself? That would explain a lot... I like buying new as i can't fix them myself but i believe cars/trucks are a horrible investment (unless you can write them off) as they just loose money... get the best i can afford and baby it until it no longer meats my needs or it dies... people laughed i bought an chevy s 10 when i was 17 brand new drove it until i was 31 had over 350k on it... girls laughed at me... i didn't give a crap my new dirt bike looked awesome in the back...it was paid for and despite my best efforts not once did it ever let me down... i married a beautiful wife who loved me despite my old crappy truck that everyone laughed at... but she's no tire bitter and i love her for it... does that make me a red neck? I don't know? I hunt, I fish and i love to ride anything in the dirt (sledded a few times just can't afford it but the funnest thing i ever rode beside... my wife)

im the type of guy that's seriously jealous of guys that can pull wrenches and try and learn off them whenever i can... my brother died 13 years ago... i have his lifted 1985 sierra with the old 4 speed stick on 35's at my parents place... when i get the guts im gonna re build that truck from ground up and give it to my son

someone please tell me im a red neck... lol... seems to many guys in lifted trucks with hid's, no mud flaps, white sunglass and flat beaked hats think they're red necks cause they live in alberta... but to me that's no red neck... just sayin!

100% agree. Being a Red Neck is a title that is earned, given to you by another. Not self appointed.
anyone can buy new and lift it, mod it whatever, red neck is the ability to turn nothing in to something. It may not look pretty but it functions and performs it's purpose as good as a new one.

Plaid coats and trucks do not make you a red neck.
