needing a new engine with my kawasaki kx 125

went riding on my two stroke and accidentally put the wrong gas in because of so many unmarked cans in my shed and just brought it to the shop and he said "not worth rebuilding so just get a whole new engine" any ideas on how to save some money on this one seeing i'm only 15 and don't have much to fix it??????? any ideas would help......thanks for reading:)

I did that with my brother cr250 when I was 12, boy he was pissed, I member he fixed it for like $200 (he beet the money out of me lol) mind you that was almost 30 years ago. ;)

I'd get another opinion if I were you. It's one thing if you put the crank through the cases, but if you were lucky, you may have only pooched the piston & cylinder. Even if the piston was totally seized and the bottom end fried, I would think it would be cheaper to rebuild. Remember, if you're replacing the engine on a bike, your're also doing the transmission & clutch which still may be perfectly ok on your bike.
You might want to talk to your auto shop teacher at school, I know where I live, the shop teacher is always looking for "challenges" for the class. For the price of parts, its not a bad deal and he keeps a close eye on what the students do.

yeah i agree with the above post. get a second or third opinion. if you race it you might want it to be all brand new. if you just like to rip up the dirt in the summer, im sure it would be much more beneficial to rebuild. however do use genuine kawi parts, they are more expenssive but with last. could probably hone out the cylinder, get oversized piston. if you need a new cylinder, they are 600 bucks but you can probably get away with honing it out if no peice scared it bad. crank and bottom end could be pricey depending on the damage.
