Wondering if there is a way to tell if the topend is seized or if it's the bottom? Can you tell without rippin it apart(probably dumb question). When it's apart what do I look for to determine if the bottom end is done, play in the connecting rods etc. any advice on what to look for when rebuilding the motor would be great sorry it's 05 cf7 long history and not sure of the whole story. P.s anyway to check the oil pump is working workin properly? Power it with a battery charger and see if it draws oil

Anyone know if the cost of rebuilding the top and bottom end if it would be cheaper to purchase a completely rebuilt motor for your core. I have seen motors on eBay for 1350 dollars plus shipping and 500 core. Anyone know of a place in Canada to buy rebuilt motors? Thanks any input would be great not worried about spending some money just want to know some options and different point of view

Your prob looking at 6 to 7 for the crank 450 for the pistons and that all depends on what else it needs like if the case are pooched or a cyl is scored up! Thats just parts and prob another 700 to 1000 for the labour. Ive got some m7 parts if you end up needing anything just let me know!

Thanks it will be a while before I know as I work away and ride my m8 when I can this might be a long project converting it to a m7 with take of parts from my m8 as I change parts like a-arms,skid,track, suspension, seat. Parts I'll need to buy would be either dd or gears, tunnel extension for 153 and more. Long day/ week can't think of everything right now.

The best way to check top end would be to pull of the Y pipe and look at the pistons. Should be able to tell if scored or broken. If its the top end your crank is probably fine. If the piston is missing a lot of parts then you probably would wana split the crank case and clean all the crap out of the bearings and areas you cant get to. Check your rods for play. Oil pump is powered buy a shaft that goes to crank. You could always unhook pump off the motor use a drill on the pump.( pretty sure the drill needs to be in reverse). I could be wrong. Its been a while. And see if the oil is pumping. There are two marks on the pump that need to line up....

I have a 700 topend gasket set if you need one.
