Federal Government Launches $10 Million National Recreational Trails Program
The Federal Government & National Trails Coalition has officially launched the National Recreational Trails Program June 26 2014.
Thanks to the partnership between the Government of Canada and the NTC, $10 million will be available between 2014 and 2016 to help expand and rehabilitate Canada’s snowmobile, all-terrain vehicle and non-motorized trail system.
The umbrella organizations spearheading the coalition initiative are the Canadian Council of Snowmobile Organizations (CCSO), the Canadian Off-Highway Vehicle Distributors Council (COHV), and the Canadian Trails Federation (CTF). Through their affiliates across Canada, these parent bodies represent trail building, operating and maintenance organizations in every province and territory.
We are pleased to advise that ABCSnow & BCSF will be working together to facilitate disbursal of funds allocated for snowmobiler’s in BC, therefore please watch your emails for info coming soon on the application process as their will be a tight deadline.
Eligible projects must be shovel ready and the club must have 50% of the funding on hand as the program is a 50/50 cost split. We will forward further details regarding application process as soon as they are available. You can also visit National Trails Coalition | NTC Canada for further information.
ABCSnow member clubs applying for NTC Trail Grant Funding, please forward your completed application to info@abcsnow.ca prior to July 31, 2014 as ABCSnow is facilitating the NTC application process with the BCSF on behalf of snowmobiler’s in British Columbia. Your application will be reviewed to ensure all applicable criteria is covered prior to submission to ensure a project won’t be ineligible due to missing info or incorrect paperwork.
Consistent national criteria has been formulated to assist NTC in ranking projects in a fair manner when compared to other projects within each of the three categories (snowmobile, ATV/ORM and non-motorized). Applications will be reviewed, points will be assessed and projects will be ranked within each category based on the criteria listed below. Applicants should note that there is no guarantee that your project will be approved.
Project Ranking Criteria
Below is a summary of the criteria that will be used to assess your application.
Each item above is addressed in more detail on pages 7 – 11 of the Application Guidelines.
Please contact Kim Smith info@abcsnow.ca if you require any assistance completing the Grant Application.
