Very very cool there Boost, and good on ya for getting behind her on this. Kids enjoy this type of competition and it's fun for the whole family as stated earlier.

You also got me started with your other post on blowers last month. Now I'm going to build a small block 434 motor with a 671 blower for my 55 chev. Looking forward to building and installing it this winter while I repaint the whole car.

I say just go to the 1071 right away. What'll happen is you'll get curious and swap the pullies on the 671 to overdrive it and once that happens you're just going to want to swap it anyway!

Put a 671 on a 502 BB and it lasted about 4 hrs on the motor, swapped pullies on a Sunday for a little 20 min drive and on Monday morning the 1071 was ordered.

gotta agree with modman a 6-71 is good for a small block well ok at least but on a big block go at least an 8 but that will leave ya wanting the 10 in the end anyways.

Currently it's a ZZ4/350 crate motor making 430hp/430tq with a TH400/3500 stall and a 9" running 4:10's. Been looking at 427 and 434 small block Dart Little M motors and building one to run a small huffer with pump gas and a big solid roller breathing through some Brodex heads. I don't plan on a big block and would think an 871 kinda big for a small block?

yup thats right 8 71 is too big for a small block 6 71 is plenty big for small block but if u were going to run a 468 big block yeah bolt the 8 71 on :d

well pride this season has just about wraped up in may she is going to saskatoon to get her IHRA drivers licence and then we will be at castrol raceway even picked up a couple sponsers haaaa its going to be awesome year pride u can even wrench on it hahhah my main crew chief

Hey gotboost,hope to see you at Castrol next year. My son Ryan has been racing since he was 8, he's now 14. He's currently in 5th place out of 30 drivers. I'm also looking for sponsors, currently have VP Racing Fuels and Joe Gibbs Driven Racing Oil. The cars sound very similar, he's running 8.90's at 70+mph in 1/8 mile.

Boost is right....stay with the 671 on the small block especially if you want it streetable....it'll sing right along....here's a pic of a blown small block I was running in a Camaro....355 with a 671....super fun car to drive on the street....had all kinds of go....wife wouldn't ride with me ...never got her into that car once! LOL. Radial TA's no good for this kind of power. Was like riding on ice. Hit the loud pedal and "Boom"...tire smoke everywhere ....

BFG radials on a 355 with 671 of course you're gonna blow off the rubber . They're a harder compound too so that wouldn't have helped either :d I can well imagine what that thing was like to drive on the street.....LOL

Did you ever run that car on the track?

for cheap hook up power, move the fuel and get street slicks. if you wanna drive it around town and go for the big meats then you're going to have to tub it but that starts to get into the realm of whats no longer considered a streetable car. the mickey t's probably aren't the best tire if you're looking to take that thing on the 2000 km runs though, so it's kinda what you're looking to build the car for and a certain style of driving.
