Has anyone had any experience with breaking a house off it's foundation, jacking up and then hauling on truck?

Am considering this and just wondering about costs, how to go about it, who to hire for the move etc Does the type of house make a difference - how much damage does the plaster/drywall suffer etc?

Cheers............Al

i havent done it yet, but this summer we are prolly gonna move a house. costs that ive heard are anywhere from $15 000 to 30 000, but right around 18 -20 seems to be the commom numbers. you could call Edalta or Dbi thats all i know of. as for the plaster it will crack but if you are moving a house you prolly got it for a good price and can afford to put some extra money into new paint and minor repairs! let me know what you come up with, and if you need some construction equipment to help in the move or at the new location we have excavators, cats, bobcats, dumptrucks and trailers etc...pm me if you like!

I use to move houses and trailers for a living, depending on how big the house is and the age, will gauge the amount of cracks u will have. Mountain movers in grande prairie has a ton of experience.

my neighbour did his. by the time it was said and done he said he should have just lit a match. it was a very old home. not worth the move in the first place.

im sure a more sturdy home would fair just fine.

My home is being moved off its foundation just north of Southgate in Edmonton out to an acreage north of Morinville at the end of May 2010. it is a 1600 sq ft bungalow with a double attached garage built in 1981...the are cutting it in half moving the two pieces then glue it back together out on site. The gent who bought it had 4 or so companies out to estimate...big range of $$$ and discussion bout how to get it out of Edmonton. The buyer is not only giving me a good chunk of change but is paying to have the foundation removed leaving a black hole.

They do great work....

In trying to be totally respectful to the family...this was the company that was to move my house for the gent that bought it. Very very unfortunately the owners son was the father whom found his two boys drowned in their house by their mother in Millet. Not too sure if he has started moving houses again...very distraught grandfather. Very sad. RIP young boys. :(

the house im living in was moved onto a new foundation. little joes out of stavely did mine. i bought house for 5g built new basement double size of house for about 15g and moving cost 11g. hadto move house about 6 miles but the movers told me it is the lifting and setting that cost the money. fortis has to be present to lift lines, that was another 1100. even after doubling the size of the house to fit basement and all new infloor heating system and septic tank and feild and systern on 4.5 acres im still under 200000 so it was not bad to do. if you look hard enough some people are giving away house u just need to move them.
