The early 2000 Polaris RMK's where the chit in their day. Pretty bomb proof engines. I went through a lot of radius arms when I had one but that was my only complaint. If they are miled up you might want to take a close look at the clutches and see if things are worn out.

As with any sled make sure it is straight..........

thank you for the reply. the guy im actually looking to buy one of these off of owns his own sled and atv shop, so he has gone through then entire thing and made sure it was ready to rock. in really good shape. so you figure the RMK would be the best bet eh?

definitly a good choice in the rmk in those years, our 03 was strong, good climber, but a little heavy
i would also look at 670x model summits or mxz as well. super strong and dependable engines. as for the ac do not know wife got one this summer and its the first for us i know they did have some issues inthose years with the f.i. models but otherwise i have noticed you never hear of an a/c guy bitchin cause his engine failed

03-06 kingcat/mountain cat 900's are good sleds, used to own one. Probably around the $3500 mark though, might be able to snag one for cheaper though.

Didn't the 2000/2001 800 RMKs have crank issues? Something about ovaling the main bearing mounts? Could have sworn I heard that from a few people...

bet you you could find a 04-05 rev 800 for 3k !

Yeah I'd go with a Rev over a kingcat for sure. I would think an 04-05 Rev would be closer to 4k though.

Never hurts to keep an eye out! I'd recommend to spend the little extra to get an 04-05 Rev. Make sure they have had new rings/pistons since new as they had ring issues.

I had a 03 RMK 800. All of that series (800s) had crank problems that fell into the crank has broken or will break, just not yet! Do a seach on Polaris 800 cranks before you drop the cash!

i would recommend a 2001 yamaha mountain max have had 3 of them now. if i had to go back to a trailing arm sled thats what i would own. lots power feels very nimbler and super reliable. i got one at home with around 5900kms tripple pipes and its a pull and go sled. should be easy to find one around that price with some goodies on them. :)

Just start calling all the adds on kiji of sleds from 2001-2004 oh which guys are asking $5000 for and offer them $3000 cash, take it or leave it as everyone of them is over valuing them to begin with. :)

Seriously though, I can't comment on the early RMK's, never liked them, but don't know much about them.

You can find 03 Rev's that were extended to 136" which are bomb proof. How about ZX chassis Summit -

2001 Skidoo Summit 800 Highmark 151" Has new factory 2002 engine - Calgary Snowmobiles For Sale - Kijiji Calgary Canada.

Any offer $2500 or under on that sled is reasonable. Asking 2900, he is lookin for 2500.
