Was in Fernie last week (wed), the snow in the trees was deep and a lot of safe places to ride. Don"t know how much things have changed but if you travel out there Morrisey is the better place to stage from. If you are looking for some bowls instead you could go to the Lost Lake area. We were in there yesterday, the trails were ok and there is some climbing and soft powder at Lost lake. Please be careful if you do go into the bowls! Here is a couple of pics from Fernie last Wed, ignore the date. We are heading back into Lost on Sun, always room for more riders.

ok if your heading up sunday if your staging at atlas you could either follow the groomed trail north up to window mountain but just before ya hit window mountain there is lots of playing to be done in the trees there ...or if ya follow the pipeline north lots of areas off of there ..... or if ya want to head to alexander up the trail and when it crosses the road stay on the left and keep taking the trail left and eventually you will come to a sign that says deadmans pass (its on the right) take that trail and it will take you into the bc side and lots of play areas there as well.... but pick up a map and it gives you a rough idea of the trails remember play safe

We were in that area yesterday before we headed into the Lost lake area. No new snow around Lynx, Carbondale and fairly hard packed. Lost Lake area seems to have more snow and they are all within a few miles of each other. There is a lot more snow on the other side of the Pass (Fernie etc).

Yes, please do get a map. Last two times down there I have had to give my maps away to people who just jumped on the sleds and didn't bother to do any research before riding.

Sorry, not saying you are the same but this is a little pet peeve of mine. :)
