Shaw GMC had a bunch this winter. 2006 and 2007 and the prices were pretty decent but climbing since they have discontinued the 4500/5500 line.

Coming from a company that had a ton of the 5500's I would urge you to look at anything else.

Thanks for this, I have been hearing mixed reviews on the 4500 and 5500 with them having quality issues.

We used them as oilfield picker trucks and we dropped engines left and right. No real power and 4-6 miles to the gallon loaded. They had a great weight capacity but what good is that if you cant do the speed limit. The little KW (7300?) was perfect but no 4x4.

Dodge 5500 filled the void for weight, but derated engine compared to the 3500, so its a real tough market to find a decent truck for. I have switched to a Ford F550 and not super happy about that either, but happier than I was with a Topkick 5500.

hit it right there the 45 and 5500 had no power and 4x4 was chit.
we did a hino for a customer in edmonton, did 4x4 conversion, that had a lot of gmc but couldn't keep front diffs in them. he has since put in the order for 4 more hinos, and getting rid of his gms.

Ya I'm not happy with our 06 F350 shop truck. It has been a nightmare, must have been a Friday truck.

The only way we will get back into a ford is with a F650 cummins or cat engine and allision tranny.

Thanks for the input again!
