Corbin is off highway 3 about 20-30 min before fernie. Sign on side of road. Turns to the left. Straight forward from there. Open or trees. Whatever ya want. It's ok. West of Sundre would be awesome but lack of snow makes it not worth while at all yet.

"Tame"....?
Yes, you can find lots of riding that's safe in the Flathead, but let's be clear...! There are places in every neck of the woods that have higher than acceptable risk for the current snow conditions. It doesn't matter if you're in the Flathead, Crownest, Fernie,... Golden, Revy, or Sicamous! They all have "spots"! Ask anyone in Sparwood, they"ll be quick to remind you of the consequences! Not trying to rain on anyones parade here, but a few names come to my mind when I think of the East Kootaneys. Raingauge, Barnes and Elliot, Harvey/Howell Creek, Hartley lake, Three Sisters. I've had some great times in all these places over the years, but with poor conditions these places can be too risky!

I agree with the mpkid. If u don't feel confident to have an Avi threat then you should reassess your avi skills because no matter the condition, high avi or low, there is always a threat, as conditions vary locally, and to travel safely in the mountains your skills need to be stronger. Simply saying I need a zone with no avi danger says to me that you should get back to the basics of learning the consequences and decision making process of your actions before venturing out so you don't become a statistic. There is no safe place to ride without proper knowledge and education no matter what the conditions are once gravity is involved.Use your brain!

yeah but you didnt say which ones. Saying "tame around Fernie" can mean anything, Coal Creek to the Cabin and back would be "tame" yes, but something like Harvey can get you into serious slopes and is not a place to be sledding with a cavalier attitude. Even up Paiges Drive I have seen a few things move off the cliffs. "tame" is not a word I would use to generalize the area with. Probably best to describe these "tame" areas for people unfamiliar with the area.

second that, some of the most wicked avy terrain you will find is in the Lizard range. Lot's of safe as well but as stated you need to describe where.
