I'm an old fart and only been riding in the mountains for 7 years and lots of my buddies tell that if I learn to ride properly I wouldn't need one!!!

The install was easy and I have used it less and less each year. Does that mean I'm getting better????

being an old fart that has been riding in the mountains for 14 years. I can honestly say that the Gold finger is the best thing since sliced bread. Don't let them young whipper snappers tell you otherwise. It is purely a personal preference and if it works for you then so be it.

wouldn't have a sled without one. if you use it once to save the day then it was worth every penny. try to get one with a lock if you can. power madd has a good system. also be sure to get a tether before any other mod and use it. i see a good thread there!!!!

I concur. The best place to use it, IMHO, is when the main throttle is up against a tree and you have lean a way out on the left side with the mountain bar and lefty enabling you to get out of the tree-well. I have a Gold finger from SnowBunje.

Rode 20+ years without one, then bought a sled with one installed. First ride I drove through the trailer after hitting the throttle and almost into the garage door, lucky the trailer door was open. First ride in the mountains I parked it on top of my buddies brand new M8 and bent/broke a bunch of parts, and bruised him pretty good. I disconnected it and haven't missed it since. It's still there if I need it, but be sure you get one with a lock!!!!

I have a Goldfinger on my 02 and plan on putting one on my '05 I picked up b4 the season starts. There are many times when a lefty can come in handy, tight spots, extreme off camber riding, etc... The goldfingers come with a safety pin and can be locked out in just a few seconds to prevent accidents. If your going to get one you need to train yourself that you better not reach too far down if you want to grab the brake, I did this about 3 times shortly after I installed it and have never hit it by accident since, just like anything else, you will learn how and when to use it. Also, as a personal rule, I would never have a sled with a lefty without having AND USING a tether... it will greatly decrease the risk if something happens with the lefty, if it freezes or anything else.

I think they are great, but they need to be respected or it can get ugly:eek::beer:

good points. i have tried other lefty throttles that use a full sized lever. just a pain.

the small goldfinger would be the only one i would use. having 2 big levers on the left side is to hard when you need it fast.

havent used one all last season and never really was mad i didnt have one.

ya we sell the gold finger, kinda like, bar risers either you use it and like it or you use it and get used to it or use it and hate it, it sure makes life easier on the reverse sidehills and steep ditches.

there about 120-130 last year, there are lots of other brands out there becarefull some are big and clumbsy .
