the 700 grizz is good to go. never have proplems and always reliable, the brute force is a good one to. polaris seems to be hard on belts,as we ride with a few and they are always changeing them. i ride a 700 08 grizz and it has been excellant beat the sh&t out of it (but always give it tlc after) and have had no issues yet

Hubby has the '08 Grizz 700 as well, no problems, he has 3 different grizz's and he has never had problems with any of them. But we don't ride hard either.

I'm kinda bias towards honda or yamaha. If u want forever reliabilty get the honda, you won't have the fly by seat of your pants ride but you'll make it there and back with no issues other than a wash. My grizz is a good machine but its still not the biggest power and is fairly reliable other than some of the torturing i've put it through its been good. All out power seems to be the kawis or can ams. not sure about cats or polaris

Are you thinking sport or utility and how much you lookin to spend?

What are you gonna use it for, work around the farm, trail, mud.

All factors that would be good to know.

I agree, we need more info. But if I were you I would stay away from Polaris, have had many issues with these in the past. I would also stay away from Cat, since they are very heavy, unless all you do is trail ride.

THKS for the info, lookin to spend 6500 to 8000 hope fully get into a 07 or 08 used low k on it. Would like pwr str for the wife but not that critical. Most of it will be for trail, some hallin fire wood and the cooler from the lake(sauna).
Ice fishing etc. ALL purpose. Any feed back is great.:beer:

Who is the bike for? If it is mostly for the wife, I would suggest the Yamaha 550, it has power steering and has slightly less power then the 700, but overall the dimensions are the same. Or you could get her the Honda 420 , the new model(09) has IRS and power steering, EFI., or the new Rubicon and Foreman also have power steering. The Rubi is auto and the foreman is electric shift. Neither have IRS.All these machines are the lightest in weight, including the Suzuki. If you decide the Rubi get the Canadian trail edition(I have one) it has adjustable shocks.

Best bang for the buck= Brute Force(Some say not as reliable)
Best reliability= Honda(slower, poor ground clearance)
Most powerful=Canam(Most Expensive, frame issues)Not much faster than Brutes for the price difference
decent power and reliablility= Grizzly(haven't heard many complaints other than overheating issues)
King Quads I hear alot of mixed feelings on, Some say they are the best and other seem to have alot of problems.

Make sure you try them all out and see which ones feel better. Try the normal steering and power steering, then decide which one feels the best and has the features you want.

Go test drive a Can Am 650....you'll be sold. SMOOOOTH V-twin power, nice ride. There are no frame issues any worse than any other ATV. Best way is to short list a few machines and try to get a test ride. even if you don't buy a new one, you'll have a better idea what you want. Once you ride the Can Am, you will not want anything else.

We both ride Suzuki Kings (him 700; her 450)- No problems, more than enough power, smooth ride too (wife has back problems & rides no issues.)

Cheers.

If you know ho w to ride, ground clearance on Honda's is not an issue, by the way ALL quads get stuck sooner or later. It depends on how you ride, same with the reliability issues. They all have their good and bad points.

I have owned Honda, Yamaha, Can-Am, Kawi, & Now the 850 XP LE Polaris. From what you say are your needs, i'd go with the 700 Grizzly with EPS, the Honda 420 with EPS, or the Polaris 550 XP. In the Polaris line i would only look at the XP models, the others have the radiator placed too low. The Honda 420 & the Polaris 550 XP are both new bikes so they will cost a bit more, there are lots of good used Grizzly's out there, you might even find a brand new left over (last yrs model still at the dealer) for a good deal.
Yes the 650 Can-Am will impress you with a test ride, no power steering on these though. and the Can-Am have crappy front brakes, poor front springs & shocks (sagging issues), fuel pump problems, and some have electrical issues etc. My 800 had all those problems and more, i have friends that have similar troubles as well, but some have good luck.
Hope i haven't confused you with all that.
