Friends of mine have a place out there. I'm not super knowledgeable about it but i believe the lake is more less a glorified slough. Lots of alkali etc. Not sure on depth in middle but we were able to drive a lifted titan a fair ways out from shore. If your looking for real "lake " living i don't think this would be the best for ya. Having said that they do have a nice little cabin out there and is a neat little get away. Hope this helps.

I live on Red Deer Lake, it is a beautiful, quiet place to live. Lots of quadding trails, etc around the lake. Good snowmobiling(for Central Alberta standards) There are a number of ppl that boat and sea-doo on the lake. It is alkali, there is no fish or weeds. The lake is shallow, probably 6-8 ft deep in the middle. I had my outboard Lund out there a few years ago to cruise around, no problems, even wakeboarded behind it. Is it as nice as Buffalo or Gull? Boating/fishing, no, but it is a fraction of the price. Where are you looking at lots? IMO, the Gladdon Estates area is one of the nicest spots on the lake.

There is lots of wildlife, deer, coyotes, rabbits, birds, occasional moose, porcupines, and once in a while the odd unfortunate skunk. lol The best part about owning property here, nobody tells you what you can and cant do (within reason). At non-busy times, there is the occasional varmint that falls down dead in my back yard and nobody cares, they all do the same. Lots of ppl quad, dirt bike, boat, sea-doo, canoe, kayak, swim, sail, hike, etc, etc.

The water level has been slowly up and down since I have moved in. It has dropped a fair bit since the 80's but I am hoping it is on its way back up. We've had a long drought since then. These past two years have showed alot of promise. It has gone up probably a foot since I moved here 5 years ago. The water will come back, it was once high, it will be high again. I read a while ago, Lesser Slave Lake was nearly dried up years ago. Was actually a road built across it. :)

Thanks AA for the pictures I could view them at home, but not at work???

Place looks good, we might swing by and look at the area this weekend, my concern is the lake size the depth and no fishing...I'm not a fish guy but my father inlaw is and the wife likes taking him out...I'm the you catch em I'll clean, cook and eat em....

Have seen several lakes in the last 25 years go dead then start to dry up, so I'd want to know why ....

Pigeon Lake goes from Very Nice Water to Algae seemingly overnight. With this warm spell it could happen any time now.

On pigeon it depends on what part of the lake your at to how bad the algea is, near our place on the nw corner never gets to bad, and the.pigeon lake watershed association is working on ways to maintain the current lake levels, in the 58 years my family has had our place out there its never been lower then it was in the last few

We have a place on lac la non and north end of the lake is the highest and is over 50 to 60ft, I can even get a pic of depth on the boat, the half (middle) is 30 to 40 and the very south in the bay is the worst and runs to 9ft but that is a long way away. I also here of an area that will have lots,pm me and I can fill you in. I think fishing is pretty good, for walleye it is open now on a draw system, our son caught 5 off the dock last week in about 1/2 hr one morning. If anyone wants info pm me.Thanks

What ever made the Wifey Happy...lol

We wanted to be within 2 hours of home, have an empty lot to build on, lots of trees, power to prop line if possible, reasonable roads to access it 4 seasons and mor important - if it rains.
A swimming lake, ski boat access that was easy, lots if area for kids to play etc

At the time pigeon met the requirements and a lot more, it was a bit more money but that's a demand thing.

It's a great time to buy. The lake prop have not been moving the past few years do many are motivated to sell.

Wish you luck, we absolutely LOVE being at the lake - all the worries of life seem to disappear.
