Kitty Cat Windshield fittment

Anyone have any advice on mounting a windshield on a 78 Kitty Cat. This hood didn't originally have a windshield and the windshield I got is for 80-97 hoods. Looks like I need to mold it somewhat to get it to fit properly. Don't really want to wreck the windshield so if someone has some experience and can let me know that would be appreciated.

maybe soften it with a heat gun and bend it around a dowel or broomstick to keep the corner true. might be worth a try on an old windsheild for practice.

I was thinking about a heat gun but don't have an old windshield to try it on. Anyone else try this before?
