BUHBYE, NDPeeee

Alberta’s Wildrose and Progressive Conservative parties have agreed to merge, CTV News has learned. Don Martin, host of CTV’s Power Play, reported Thursday morning that the Wildrose caucus will be told that a merger with the PC party is on. The parties have been discussing a merger for some time, in order to unite the conservative forces in the province.
Martin said the merger will likely present a “big problem” for Alberta’s NDP Premier Rachel Notley, whose party benefitted from the divisions between the conservatives in the last provincial election.

In March, former federal cabinet minister Jason Kenney won the Alberta PC leadership race on a platform to dissolve the PCs and merge with Wildrose in order to create a new conservative party. His goal was to have the new party and its elected leader in place in 2018.
Wildrose leader Brian Jean had said he would be in favour of joining forces if his members approve.

Hey guys. This is no guarantee its going to happen. The 2 parties will now take it to their grassroots members for a vote on unity. Surprising as it sounds there are still people in the parties that don't want to merge. To make sure this vote goes through be a part of the voting process. Its imperative this vote goes through. Go online and buy memberships for both parties so your vote can be counted if you want unity. Memberships are only $10 per party. Its the best $20 you'll ever spend, trust me. Don't leave this in other peoples hands. Spread the word as much as you can. This message was conveyed to me at a town hall by Derek Fildebrandt himself. It will take a 75% approval rate from Wildrose members and 51% from PC members.

Is Derek going to run for leadership if the merger goes through?

A lot better than the NDP , Stier (?) is the MLA in the castle area and is against the closing & this was also confirmed by Brian Jean .
Nothing is ever rock solid with politicians, but I like our odds a lot better with a wild rose / con. Majority..,

Even if the resulting party doesn't reopen castle, I doubt they will close more areas down.

I just had a thought that scared the crap out of me. What happens if a bunch of NDP supporters buy Wildrose memberships and vote against unity? They only need 26% to stop this from happening.

Purchasing both a pc and wr membership asap so I can vote in favor which means bye bye the useless twit notley and the this devastating 4 years of debt creation and taxation. This was an expensive 4 yrs based on the incompetence of Redford, Prentice and Smith.

Good point! This was discussed today on the Rob Breckinridge show on QR. They will try and sneak in to vote. Thats why its imperative we take that element out of the equation. Buy memberships and vote.

The AGM will be July 22 for both parties. I just hope it is somewhere central. I wish we could do a mail in vote or online for something like this.

I like the look of that poll, with those numbers the number of seats the NDP should get should be well under 10.

Of course Nothead is using fearmongering on the merger news. She is saying that the new party will try and figure out what they want to be. Reverting back to their Lake of Fire days and anti LBGQ days. What a cow.
