Lol, feels so Ironic that I give sledders a bad time about checking conditions when it's obvious, but I'm doing it for dirt biking now.

How's the snow down low in the valley? I have only rode out there once but thinking about heading that way with some friends to satisfy the urge and get some stress out before moving.

Wanting to run without studs, so little to no snow?

Are we in luck?

Thanks,
Q

Snow's pretty scarce down in the valley. You could run without studs easily. I would expect the Baddlands to be clear by now too, it's further South than I am and hasn't had alot of snow all winter. Took a trip up to Forster last weekend, the backroads were pretty dry til fairly close to the staging area. Not sure where you ride exactly, but you'll be good to go most places. And better yet...this early there's no friggin' dust!!!

I only know of the small area at the sound end of the lake and paradise. Would love to know of more areas as I've heard both Radium and Invermere has a lot of riding.

I think we're going with somebody new to dirt, so unfortunately we'll be keeping it mostly laid back.

Paradise will definitely be out...still lots of snow up there. We haven't got up the back way through Bruce Creek loop til late in summer. You can go up the front from Pano sooner.

Baddlands is at the South end of the lake on the West side-go through Invermere and out the back way. It must be where you mean, fair amount of dusty dunes in there and not a huge area but set up for dirtbikes, lots of good 'tracks' set up around that you can really rip on, can get lotsa air if you want it! Plus mellow riding for the newbie ;) That'd be your best bet...might have some mud (especially on the trail/road in) but will be snowless.

Lots of backroads and trails behind Radium on the West side. Gotta go by trial and error to see where they go! Backcountry Mapbook for around here is priceless :D

Yup, sounds like the same area. Small little road off into the bush. Now if i can remember where that is.. =) I know there was a mail post or something. I'll find it though. It's a fun little area. Reminds me somewhat of Drum Heller.

The only time I've been west of Radium was when going to Forrester. No idea of a trail network back there. Nice drive in during the winter though.

Yup, we went to Paradise a few years ago (with permission) and even in August or late July still had quite a bit of snow. We did make it to the top, but if you wanted to stay on trail you had to shovel out. Nice view up there and some interesting riding.

Just looking to expand my horrizons this year with new riding. I love the soil around Invermere compared to our rock, root, and trees.

It's a fair ways out on the Westside Rd...there's CPR spraypainted on the trees right near the road in.

Pick up the Mapbook for this region, it shows the backroads and gives an idea as to if it's trail, road or what...there isn't a real trail system to know or find...just inter-connecting roads through crown land and old logging roads will take you up higher...further. If you're not familiar with the area you could get lost pretty quick :) I have my mapbook on all our trips...just in case.;)
