hey guys, i have just bought my first sled. i got a 2001 ski doo summit 800. i have made a deck similar to this one https://www.snowandmud.com/forum/14/single-sled-deck-22756-2.html

right now, its sitting in the back of my truck in vancouver, not on the deck.
To be upfront i have not ever ridden a sled before, and i am about to head to revelstoke to meet up with some friends that live there, who are willing to teach me the basics, but, i am wondering if anyone could help me load my sled into the back of my truck as i am worried as hell that if i take it off, i wil not be able to get it back on.

i am located between burnaby and coquitlam. any help over the next day or two would be muchly appreciated.

Hi I dont want to sound negative here BUT how can you go ride Revelstoke if you are unsure of your ability to even load your sled on your deck.
How steep is the ramp to your deck?
Start slow and see how it goes. Increase your speed just a little until you make the climb. Use momentium to get you on top not to much sapeed and be ready to hit the brake as soon as your skies hit the deck surface. Take little tries at a time until you get it right. Do NOT hit it fast or the back window will be your friend real close.

ever hear the saying "throttle is your best friend"?

not in this case. if you have carbides on your skies they will catch most times. just hit it fast enough to get the track on the ramp then it is just little blurps. if you spin out at the bottom just back up (hope you have reverse lol) worst case you just leave it on!

Drag or lift it on if you are unsure.
Better than replacing rear window or broken leg

get an old plastic box liner and cut 6-8" strips on the outside of the ramps this way when going up the carbides won't dig in,and if possible put something on the inside of the ramp so your track has something to grip, this will help from spinning...You'll be fine, might take you a few attempts until you feel comfortable then you won't even think about it.

the never riden part??? little blurps dont try to go really slow and burn the belt! oh and make sure e-brake is off or there goes a belt lol. sorry just starting at the basics because you said you have never riden a sled. if you cant start it then leave it! do you have a come-a-long? might be safer till you can get a few miles on it to feel what it does!

Loading is as easy as 1, 2, 3...

1.) Point your sled towards the ramp and jack the back of your sled off the ground with a 2x4.

2.) Start your sled and hold the throttle wide open.

3.) Close your eyes and rock the sled from side to side until it falls off the jack stand.

Your sled should jingerly ease up the ramp into the back of your truck.

See you in Revy :d

{just kidding by the way, don't try this at home}

I remember loading a sled into a truck when I was 12-13

picture 15-20 foot snow banks. backed truck up to snow bank. fired sled up and got to other side of snow bank. well at this point cant see truck. took a run at the hill and got stuck (going to slow). well after 4-5 tries I decided to go faster....well almost to fast....got to the top and going way to fast. spiked the brakes and it came down like in a cartoon. right between the wheel wells and from about 12 feet in the air. it wasnt even 3 inches out. guy want to bet me that I couldnt do that again. well to say the least I didnt take the bet because I could never do that again.

friend did the same thing at the same place and time and went clear over his truck and clipped the front 6 inches of his hood. that year we had way to much snow lol.
