CN rail pays good , lumber mills pay good, trades pay good, equipment, road construction. Or you could always start your own operation.

But not with that cant do attitude.

Kanedog is right, albertans are whinners ...
I neither confirm nor deny your statement
remind us albertans how much every other province contributed to equalization payments? Or GDP for that matter?
Seperation from Canada cannot come fast enough....I pray Quebec gets declared a nation in a nation, I pray BC gets the name change oh so wanted by so many. It will be that much easier to convince fellow Albertans why we should accept everyone around us has turned their backs and bit the hand that feeds them

Im an Albertan, working in BC. Would you believe we are paying 9000$ a month rent to stay in Langley city right now? We wouldnt be paying that if there was no money to be made....

Any who, Edmonton is pretty nice in the winter too. Enjoy....

Sounds like we have the same struggle. Would be more productive to talk about our similarities and how we both can thrive than complain at each others situation eh? Seriously, this is the problem, why are we so divided when we should be united?
For the record I hope you never have to pay 9k a month rent ever again, that is highway robbery IMO and sympathize for you and your family. You are a better man than most I would argue as well. Keep up the good work and goodluck down there !

P.S Rather have snow in the winter than wet rain like Vancouver lol jk :p

Thats just in langley, we have work all over Canada. You dont want our bills....

Life is good, i hope all is well for you too. And i understand where you are coming from, cost of living is lower in alberta and if you have a good thing going , why change.

This is all in good fun man. Like bullshitting around the camp fire with buddies.

Cheers

Absolutely it's good to just chat around the fire - it's amazing how much mental health can affect your overall health like your guts etc

I also agree that it's not cool just cuz u may have a good thing going somewhere to sit where u are and be all like Nelson off the Simpsons - some people have zero control how the cards are laid out in front of them

Haha Amen bro !!! Right back at ya homeslice !!
Start convincing your locals to join the Alberta republic pretty please? Leave Langley and wherever else you think might be useless to hard working link minded people ? Pretty confident anything north of PG would join, but not the kootneys or lower mainland as mentioned above. If you got any thoughts/advice I'm all ears.
Free case of beer to new migrants? haha

Too much fear and negativity.
Look on the bright side, Alberta is leading the country in herd immunity, with infections and vaccines. Our province will probably be the first to actually show the rest of Canada how COVID was a big lie.

Thats true, some times life deals you.a shitty hand. My neighbor has no legs, but some how runs a successful company.

Small engine repair is a hard way to.make a living though. Might want to think about doing something else?

If not good luck, if i need some sled fixing id be happy to have you work on my crap.

Unless it's changed recently, nope. I know someone who ran an excavation company in B.C and had to come to Alberta or even Sask to keep busy because there was no work in B.C. It wasn't by choice, they liked living in B.C but there just wasn't much work to be had.

There’s not much excavation work during the rainy season in bc. It’s one big sloppy mess and the costs are 30%+ to do dirt work in the slop.

Ya I would love to keep doing the small engine stuff out of my garage down in BC somewhere as a side gig - I've got my class 3 and I'm a Journeyman lineman so maybe I can find something - I'd even wire houses or something - I'm technically a 3rd yr electrician As a jman lineman

Electricians are in high demand. In Alberta and BC. Id try to get your journey man ticket if i were in your shoes and definitely keep the mechanics shop dream alive in your spare time . Lineman is pretty good too. Sounds like you are very qualified, just need to get your head back in the game.

Mental health is important for sure.
Vernon or K-town might be a good option if you want to gtfo of alberta.

Kelowna is booming.
