A couple things work to the advantage. First of all, the stick has to be green so that it just doesn’t snap. Secondly, a birch tree is the strongest and doesn’t seem to splinter like the evergreens. Thirdly, speed or lack of speed is important.
I realize the inherent danger but so far so good. It is like a lot of things; good ideas come out of hokey things.
With that in mind, someone should put a replaceable 1/2” diameter sleeve on the present scratchers and that may work better than the present ones.

That is the Muskoka FreeRider scratcher. We seem to be using them more and more this year. Sure helps with the cooling. Stick it into the running board, hold on with the left hand, drive slow (30-40 km) and the cooling comes right down to the low-mid 50’s. Once the cooling happens naturally as we climb, we stick them in the berm and pick them up on the way down.

Cheaper than $114 for another set of scratchers as well. Well done sir. Well done.

For anyone looking into riding Hunters Range this week, parking up Brash is about 3km in and Parking up Ashton is 7kms.
Was up today and parked up Ashton, the snow is not great but if you are adventurous head to Gordon Sydney and over to the Cook creek zone, we got into bumper deep the closer we got to 3 Valley gap.
