can you convert a trail sled into a moutine sled? long track?

Thats a pretty open question. For the people to help you include your current model that you want to create into to a mountain sled eg. year, make, model, engine size, track length etc. To answer your question, yes you can, its just money.:d

Well you can spend a lot of money on getting this sled fit to mtn. ride, especially without a motor. You will still have a heavy ride that may or may not get you to the alpine. For my money, I would find another motor and sell that old pus and maybe find something newer. you can get better mtn. riding sleds for 1/2 the money you'll spend on that old kitty.

Just built an AC chassis into a 156" mountain sled as the back up for less than $2200 including the purchase of the sled. Started out life as a short track 121" and now it has a 156" x 15" x 2" and sno pro skid in the rear, also lighter seat and Powder Pro skis. Works decent as a backup sled when someone breaks something and I need a spare.............. Its only got a 340 motor in it though....;)

Realistically, I would buy a new sled though if you don't have a motor. The one I bought was running and so all the parts were there. Its do-able but the AWS 4 is a heavier chassis without some TLC with the disc grinder, the hole saw and a mig welder. Cutler used to make aluminum bulkheads for them and I know where one is if you want it. This helped drop the front end weight a good amount but if you are going to put that much money into it, better to find a newer sled IMO.

Hope that helps.
