I have a 7' x 8' flat deck installed onto my truck. I need an additional 12" width to handle two sleds but I don't want the deck to be that wide permanently. I have to fabricate the same type of slide out extensions that sled decks use. The alternative is fold up sides like Polarice has but that may be beyond our fabrication capabilities.

My deck length is 8'. How many supports should I use? Would three be enough? What size / thickness steel for the male and female tubes? Location and type of hinges for the decking?

Does anyone have detailed pictures of their deck slides that may give me direction?

Thanks

you should get ahold of renegade4me on this site. He built an 8' deck for his truck with retractable sides. It turned out pretty nice.

Do you need more pictures? Or some different angles? Let me know and I'll take them for you.....
