Had Becks in Leduc do one recently. Very good job. Owner himself crawled on the roof with me to do the final inspection.

What is the going price/square. I know it is dependent on gables and the quality of shingles but I am looking for a ball park price. Provide shingle quality in the price please......

Not sure of square foot price.

Our duplex was 6000.00 for both sides if I remember correct.

This was in Calmar by B and B roofing.

Val has had them shingle a few homes now all with good results.

What ever the price it's worth it. I did my house and garage 2 summers ago and it's a lot of work! I did it in 30 deg weather. I got to worst sun burn ever and the stiffest legs and back! But if you want I will lend you my shingle nail gun and am in Leduc to!

Such a bad bunch of roofers out there right now, no certifications needed. I have been shanghaied several times in the last few years, noticed lots of rot from bad roofing jobs. And no need for it with the awesome materials that are available today.

Afraid of heights ? pretty easy job. Yes there is manual labour involved. Maybe get a contractor over that is willing to guide you with your buddies to haul shingles up after you removed the old ones. NEVER shingle over old ones as this will add weight and kick you latter. Just bought a shingle shovel for $30 as it will be easier than the ol standard steel shovel then remove nails. pay the man cash. You really need someone to start and align the first row, and around chimneys etc. Highy recomend a ridge vet instead of whirrly birds and you can nail shingles on top of them, so remove them and sheet the holes in for more ventalation. Only need roofing paper around the edges as your just going to wack nails on it anyways. ever thought about steel ? Its cut to your length. Not much more cost and will last years. Im 55 so, 1 more time as I use 30 yr shingles and if i last that long I will install steel, LOL.

Anyone know how far the bottom row of shingles should over hang the eve?
Shingles on house were done last year and I was outside during mod. heavy downpour
awhile ago.Lot's of water is running up the back side of the bottom row and dripping
down between the metal eve thingy and the gutter's.1/2"-5/8" on southside of house
and 3/4" + on north side.(of shingle overhang). Is that enough?
Thank's

That's not enough overhang, should be between 1 1/4"-1 1/2", that is why it is dripping back into house, and very likely rotting the fascia board.

i had had same problem on garage and it was rotting the fascia like cyle said. Bought drip edging and fixed problem. It slides under shingles, extends the edge into gutter and drops down outside your metal fascia.

https://www.homedepot.ca/en/home/p.vinyl-drip-edge-white-only.1000109341.html this is what I used, pretty simple

Fascia is tin wrapped.Metal thingy.lol goes from under shingles, turns down 90deg. down fascia
then down to bottom and around.(I will post a pic later) Is there a code as to how far shingles are
supposed to over hang? 5k to shingle a 1000sq.ft roof and water is running down all over the place.
I'm not very happy.

5000 to shingle a roof?? That seems a little cheap to me. Cost of shingles is almost half of that. Plus the other materials required to do the job. Our material list to do our house is just over $4000. Maybe it is just me but something sounds fishy with the amount you paid?

I looked in it when I shingled my house, lots of guys will do it for the cost of the shingles. So $3000 worth of shingles will cost you $3000 labour. But that might but to cheap. Lol

That is the standard rate plus any repairs that may be needed.

Gotcha. We were quoted slightly more for labour but we have lots of peaks and vents, etc. Just finalizing shingles today and should be done in a week or two. Here we thought we were being original with these new shaped shingles until we drove around the neighbourhood last night. Most of the new shingles are the same style dammit. There is one house that has unique shingles that really stand out and look good but I can't find them anywhere online.
