So after being skeptical that these things would work and after eating some words in the threads I have broke down and going to pick one up for the weekend. Local dealer is letting me demo a 450rx with timbersled kit.

See how it works out, who knows might be keeping it longer then the weekend.

So day 1 is over. Put on only about 50km on the bike. Man my a$$ is sore lol. Blue bird day, rock hard snow until about 2pm. Haven't been on a dirt bike in several years so maybe my muscle memory has forgotten what it's like. Steering takes a bit to get use to, lots of leaning and not so much actual steering. Once the snow soften up it did get fun, felt almost like a seadoo st times. Side hills like a dream. Shifting takes a second to remember. The bike its self is good, power felt good. Going to try a new spot tomorrow and see how it goes

So day 2 is over. Went out with 4 other bikes and got a real good appreciation for what these things can actually do. The group I rode with have been riding these for four years now and ride dirt bikes in the summer. I haven't ridden a dirt bike for 20 or so years. Yes its spring hero snow but that's not where the bike shines. Side hills is as effortless as riding flat. Can pick any line and as long as your handle bars will fit through you can make it. I was riding the 450rx with a timbersled 120 kit. 2 of the other bikes were the same just older models and the other bikes were 2 strokes.
The major down side is hard packed trails. I got pretty beat up going in and out on the trails. But keep in mind these aren't groomed. With more experience things would have been easier I believe.
Must admit I am seriously considering the purchase. Not a complete switch but a second option on game day. Highly recommend renting one. If you do I would do it with a group of others and for a minimum of two days. Progress on day two was 10x what I was capable of on day one

the extra padded seat is key. I couldn't sit down for a few days after our first trip or two. wiggling around on your taint all day long to put butt English on the bike... man do they offer some cool lines and a different aspect though.

as Dan has stated before, a good sled rider can reach the same spots... but I'm not that good lol

Totally agree on giving it a full weekend try. Some guys buy 2 pair of padded shorts and it makes a big difference. Let the snow soften forsure, your days are long anyways. Guys we have rode with are smiling from ear to ear by the end of second day.
