make sure you also carry a ball glove, otherwise a cop in a bad mood may call it a "concealed weapon" where as if you have a glove and ball, its "baseball equipment"

That works...its like the guys we seen riding horses in the mountains, they had dipped into the park and one of our crew pointed out that they should hide the rifle.....his response was it wasn't for protection, but was along incase one of the horses was hurt severely, that they would be able to humanly euthanize the animal.... not sure the fish and feathers guys will go for that, but it's worth a try....

Plio's got a pretty good story about a bat in the car....

When he was a kid he got pulled over in moms car and when they found one of those novelty mini bats in the car they tried to throw the book at him, carrying concealed weapon etc. etc.

Mom was pizzed when she found out they confiscated her bat and called out the officer and up the chain.... Apparently when they decided to fawk with Chris they had no idea who Mom was...lol

In the incident Bogger mentioned they took a bat, a tool kit, and a few othe misc items.

Was boxed in by 4 unmarked cars. Pulled us out of the car, full pat down. Held for close to 2 hours. Threw our id's in the snow beside the car, jumped in their cars and left.....probably assuming I would just count myself lucky and go away scared....

Little did they know I was far more scared of my mom when she found her chit missing.

None of the cops recorded the stop or that any items were taken, found my moms chit in one of the pigs (yes these pricks deserve that title) lockers only after my mom drove to the station to file a formal complaint.

That cop had to bring the items back to my house and apologize face to face and return them....that was a good day...

As a member of the RCMP I find it very comforting when performing a traffic stop for unsafe driving/ dui/ etc. knowing that there is one less firearm on our streets/highways. It gives comfort for my family as well. I was not involved with the firearm confiscation but fully support any actions taken by those involved. Please feel free to continue this debate. We are not here to hinder but to help and have to look out for the best interest of the public and our fellow officers. I step down from this debate

You're sure a pompous ass aren't you.
"Please feel free to continue this debate." - as if anyone needs your permission to post about this topic.

.... if you're scared to do your job "traffic stop for unsafe driving/ dui/ etc. " because of something that is legal -- maybe you should find another line of work.
You also mentioned earlier that the RCMP and the Military were doing this in the interest of public safety. I think you forgot that the Military left once the threat of the flood diminished. The RCMP kept some people from their homes for 2 weeks after the soldiers was gone.

Drunk drive with Nike's ?
Or eat ice cream with a fork?(ok maybe you can do that)

Can you blow someones head off from 400yards without a gun? I think not...lol

Back on the topic of someone breaking into your house and stealing your legally owned stuff. Nothing was brought up about the ammunition they had stolen and "CLAIM" was destroyed.OOPS...Sorry we didn't know isn't gonna cut it.They are not above the law. As for the people that said the cops took things out of their car,all I have to say is know you're rights...http://svan.ca/police-rights/

A firearm is designed to shoot a projectile. What that projectile hits is up to the person operating it, by accident or design.

The same way a vehicle If misused can damage property or maim and kill a person.

The difference is most people don't have an irrational fear of vehicles and the police don't believe they're the only ones that should be allowed to posess a vehicle.

People keep compairing guns and cars? Last time i checked my car wasn't invented and designed with the purpose to launch a projectile at a target with the intention to kill. Yes, you can shoot at paper targets but that isn't the intention or purpose of a gun. Just because you are not killing something it doesn't take away from the reason the gun was invented in the first place.

I really recommend you do a little research of your own and find out for your self what the definition of a weapon is, through reliable sources, instead of just going by your feeling's on the subject.
Your paranoid thinking is flawed by the fact that your saying every firearm/gun owner in Canada are criminal's, as they have these for the INTENT of killing or injuring another person. "What a weapon is used for", you are entitled to your opinion but at least have an true understanding of the differences of a firearm and a weapon. There is a difference in there uses.
