Prevent the LOSS of recreational land usage in Southern Alberta

Pay specific attention to Sections 6 and 7, where they describe the use of recreational vehicles to trails and designated pathways. For all you off trail quadders out there hell bent on tearing the land up, riding through creeks etc, they are targetting you specifically.

There have been efforts in place for approx. 5 years now in Alberta to get EVERY gas powered vehicle out of the back country. If power sport users contact their MLA, we will lose way less than we would if you do not. Don't be fooled, we will lose some areas of use, but let's get off our machines and couches and make that call/visit/write that letter. I have this feeling that quite a few riders are "individualistic" and think "that is what the clubs are for, to push for more open riding areas". News flash - clubs are people, the more people talking to politicians, the less effect a few in the non-motorized pursuits will have in trying to represent themselves as "the majority" - which they are not.

clubs NEED people, clubs NEED members, clubs REPRESENT THE MAJORITY...... join a club, get the numbers up!

And the excuse "I do all my riding in B.C. so land closures in Alberta don't affect me" won't cut it either. B.C. is also going through their land closure issues. As to the Southern Alberta recreational land usage study going on right now if you do not make your opinion known or participate in the survey or join a local club then you have no right to complain when your favorite riding area is closed!!!! Also this land use management plan may be playing into the wishes of the Y to Y lovers. If you don't know what that is you better get informed!!!!

You are very correct modman here in Saskatchewan the same thing will be happening if people don't brain up. I can't say I have never did this myself but now have seen first hand what is happening with these atvs with large mud tires. We have one dealer in specific that is known for pushing this type of riding. I stopped to talk to them last year to see if we could come up with some kind of responsible mud ridding campaign and basically got showen where the door was.
