I hate rivets. Would it be easier to drill the rivets out from the inside of my tunnel. I need to replace my running boards. Anybody have any tricks or techniques

When I installed my airframes I found just cutting the rivet head off with a chisel was better than drilling. Using a drill is nice and easy if you have good drill bits but some spots you have to screw around to drill it straight and if you have a good chisel, one or two good smacks and the rivet will break.

Use a sharp 3/16" bit and drill on slow from the outside. If the rivet back inside the tunnel starts turning then grab it with some pliers. Should go right through. You can grind the backs off inside the tunnel and then punch them out, or shear them off with a chisel, you risk marking up the tunnel some though. It will be harder to drill them out from inside the tunnel.
