Just wondering if the crank bearing is gone does it make a distinct noise like a car bang bang, or click click when you rev it up. I may be looking for a 700 king engine that's excellent, for a good price, from a wreck maybe. I'm using a liter of oil every 3 trips. The compression is way down, if the crank is good may be I just need a jug and rings, what are your thoughts.:( :twocents:

If you have a bad bearing in the bottom end it usually sounds like a knock, ticking usually means a valve train issue. Burning oil is either worn rings or a worn cylinder head, If you do a compression test dry and get poor compression try squirting some oil down the cylinder and see if the compression increases. if it does, that usually means it's rings that are the culprit , if it doesn't that usually means the valves and guides are in need of freshening up.
