Don't let them work on or build you a motor! They seem to be more apt to do oil and tire changes.

H-D Emonton build me a SE 110ci, i complained about the way the motor acted and sounded since the built and got blown off. it smoked on one cylinder. it crapped out 3 weeks ago, i then got a professional motor builder to tear it down and determine the problem. It was a Catastrophic failure, the builder determined that it was caused from the build, the first day it started its failure. H-d Edmonton damaged the rings when they slid the jugs over the pistons. H-D excepts no responiblitly. I no longer deal with Harley-Davidson.

There are only two people in the world I trust workin' on my Harley, me, and Pete at Screamin' Demon in Crossfeild AB.
I agree with Summitric, will your independant mechanic stand up in court for you and report his findings ? Does he have a solid enough reputation ?
Hope it all goes ok for you kgr, it the shiz its with a z.

The dealer in Cranbrook has top HD wrench. He used to own an after market shop and knows how to work on the old iron as well as the new. Not many dealers " mechanics" know how to do other than change parts or lube if your lucky and I include automotive dealers as well. If you find a good HONEST shop treat them well. They are harder to find than diamonds in Saskatchewan.

thanks for the great review my girlfriends dad is the owner of Harley davidson of the Kootenays here in Cranbrook and yes his mechanic robin Hein Is a good when it comes to working on bikes and yes he does build one of the meanest big bore and hot 103 kits known to man. I know this for a fact as my buddies 1200 sporster with a big bore absolutely eats my friends crossbones that he had done to a 110 by a shop in lethbridge. If you want great work and dont mind driving bring it down to Cranbrook to the Harley shop you will get way more performance than you can imagine and for a great price

I never liked that dealer from day 1. Even though they are nice and close to me. Always dealt with Heritage but they went downhill a few years ago. Not sure what happened there.

I am now the proud owner of a 117ci torque monster. just got it broken in, so i have been quite gentle with it so far, feels nice though.

Had it done by my local independent bike builder.

Oh , i also took bike to heritage to see what was wrong, bearings were squeaking at that point. They said it was all good sent me on my way. i would say both stealers (yes stealers) have only apprentice mechcanics, and no journyman that give a sh*t.

Easy now, not all of us apprentices have the "don't give a chit" attitude:mad::nono:. There are guys out there that take pride in their work. Sounds like you need to take the bike to shop that values the customer in both service and sales.

I dealt with HD of Edmonton in the early 80's,it was a time when shops still had a beer fridge. They were not too bad then. But as they got bigger the customer service started to go down hill fast.
What was once a great shop turned into a snob show, instead of displaying good aftermarket parts you seen nothing but shirts, mugs, ect.
The older more experienced guys/gals were gone, replaced by salespeople.
I havent been to their new location,I could only imagine how hollywood that is.
I now buy my parts online...cheers!
