This Dude is so lucky these folks came along. Kinda funny how everyone walks away after they pull him out..... Gotta laugh at the effort of the Police officer too. Direct traffic....help with one hand.... stand and look at the injured Dude. Didn't quite make the cut for the Navy Seals:d
BIKER PULLED FROM UNDER BURNING CAR IN WRECK 110913 - YouTube

saw that on the news. Great story. They interviewed him yesterday and for being under a car on fire he looked pretty good....on the outside atleast. Oh yeah I did notice the cops feeble effort. Talk about to serve and to protect!

I dont think what the cop did was questionable. Most emergency services workers are killed or injured on the roadway, he checked traffic to make sure there wasn't a secondary collision which would have injured more people. He was also on his radio, probably calling for an ambulance and a fire truck. Most Police dont even know how to check a pulse, so he is doing what his job is; secure the scene until the proper professionals arrive.

You're right teamgreen, I know the Officer was doin his job but you gotta admit he looks a little flustered. His vehicle placement should have been better to protect and secure the scene. Where was the fire extinguisher that every police car is equipped with and if he can't take a pulse he should at least move the unconcious victim just a little further from the burning vehicles.

Who said it isnt his first day on the job? He isnt 200lbs overweight so I would say he is a rookie.

On a more serious note, he probably drives a cruiser which is barely big enough to block 2 lanes. I think what he did was sufficient, but Im sure it is still running through his mind; especially what he could have done different. Hindsight is 20/20, he can pick apart the call himself and can see it on youtube to re-live it. We have a very narrow view of this scene, who knows whats going on outside the cameras view.

Cheers

I noticed that when I saw it before too. I wonder if it has anything to do with being sued for trying to help. Still happens alot. Not sure where this took place and if tey have laws to prevent getting sued if you are helping out.

I know about the Good Samaritan Law but it is not present everywhere. That is what I meant. I am not sure if they have the law where the accident occoured.

saved my azz once, used to play in a band and coming home from a gig at about 4am we came upon an accident. guy was drunk and hit the ditch, rolled his pickup and his girlfriend was still inside....he was on the highway shoulder waving down cars. we stopped and there were 3 other people standing around, girl was crying inside the truck and it was smoking from somewhere in the front end. I crawled in and pulled her out, no cell phones back then, so we put her in the truck and headed for town. felt warm and fuzzy until the solicitor dude showed up at my door 3 months later and served me with papers....she was suing me and my buddy for $650,000 because we moved her and she had a broken neck. nice

what was the end result??

My buddy and I were witness to a major accident and pulled a family out of a burning car (they were in rough shape). Two girls in the other car died unfortunately. Anyway, we had to go to an inquiry because that part of the hwy did not have a turn out lane to enter the hotel (Wapta Lodge hotel on top of the Field hill). Boy the inquiry was very tense and I felt that the way they were asking me the questions they were trying to place the blame on me and my friend. Fortunately I wasnt being sued but simply as a witness.

it took almost a year but we were cleared under the good samaritan act, because we had no medical or emergency training and were just trying to help. turned out the girl was AWOL from a group home, after they threw out her suit against us she sued the group home, and even the guy she ran off with that crashed his truck. I think she got some money eventually....she was walking around fine 6 months after the accident when I saw her.
