Anyone have any good sources for GM parts that are reasonable. Most dealers I talk to want prices that absolutely no one would ever pay and unfortunately it is stuff I can't really get aftermarket, nor want too. GMpartsdirect.com is unwilling to give me a cost without submitting the order first. That and they want a 25% surcharge because I am not from the U.S., plus $25, plus shipping, brokerage and whatnot. That and they are a PITA to deal with with their cashier cheque payment crap.

Any ideas in Canada?

If not there is some US dealers I can try too.

Just did a injector pump for my Duramax. Had to get a gear that only GM makes and was 2 - 3 weeks away. . Did an Internet search and found two USA dealers at half the price, unfortunately the wait was going to be longer plus time to ship to Canada do I ordered through the dealer and paid the price, were taking $250 difference so it wasn't the end of the world.

Time isn't a huge concern for me. It's trim parts that the aftermarket doesn't make... so the truck is fine without them, lol. I will go to a US dealer if need be but you would think some place this side of the border could get their pricing a little more inline. I'm sorry, but we are not 0.60 on the US dollar anymore and haven't been for a long time.

I mean I bought every top end gasket for the supercharged 3.8 in my 04 GTP ( so the aluminum GM problem solver intake set, coolant elbows, supercharger gasket, thermostat gasket, injector o-rings etc) for the same price the local dealer wanted for just the intake gaskets. And all the stuff I bought were GM OEM parts.... just from an aftermarket company in the States. They don't deal with trucks though.

That and I have seen some huge price differential up here, it's just all in who you talk too I guess.

3m stuck on door trim will not survive that, lol. Not to mention it all looks just as crappy as mine does.

i just did a quick google search and there is a gmpartsdirect in canada, its just a dealer out of ontario... and people have been saying prices are about the same as regular canadaian dealerships

have any buddies in the states? i had to do that a few years ago ordering computer parts, they ordered, paid and then they shipped up to me (usps) and just put a very low declared value (under $20) and there was no duty. i just sent them money via paypal

Yeah I do. He is in Texas and I gave up trying to get a transmission from him, lol.

This stuff would be reasonable to ship though. I sent him a message and will see what he says.

I had the "clockspring" inside the steering wheel go in my 06 GM...no more steering wheel controls. They wanted over 500 bucks for this at the local GM dealer....under 200 out of the USA. After I flat out told them I was just going to order it out of the States, they came down to around 250 bucks. Shameful.

Did the same thing with the intake gaskets back when. The dealer however agreed with me that their prices are absurd but did nothing to attempt to get me to buy them there. If they don't care, neither do I, lol.

Holy crap, that's hard to believe. I'll definately keep that in mind the next time I go for parts.

Last year I ordered a new bumper from these guys. The part came in fast and was waaaay cheeper than I could have gotten locally even after shiiping. I've only used them once so far, but their service was great and I got the right part the first time. http://www.partswebsite.com/discountgmparts/

Reasonable prices and GM parts cannot exist in unison. The world would simply implode.

you know what they wanted for a replacement front and back Chevy emblem (the ones that peel?). 175 bucks each for a piece of ch!t plastic.

A new aluminum 17" rim; $650.

Yeah well like I said, it's not for stuff I can buy with my shop rate discount at the local Napa. If I could I wouldn't give GM a dime.... I would rather see them fall off the face of the planet, lol. I just like some of the stuff they built, like 03-07 classic trucks..... and that's about it beyond some previous gen stuff, lol. Anything current...... yeah I will buy something else thanks. Although the current gen trucks have some useful parts.... like the heads and intake from the 4.8/5.3's, the air box on the fender, the electric fans , the AXN code 9.5" 14 bolts with discs from the max trailer half tons, etc.

Repair type replacement parts for the powertrain I will not buy GM. I prefer Delco or Delphi for most electrical components but again.... I don't buy them from a GM dealer.

whoDeanie's link for what I want isn't too bad on price and really is the same cost GMpartsdirect was before they added all their fees.

I am going to talk to local dealer tomorrow and see what they want for the part numbers I have. I am willing to bet $200-$300 more for the same stuff from the link is shipped.

Needed gaskets for LLY. GM dealers in Winnipeg told me only source was them. Called Central Transport and Refrigeration and had Felpro gasket set in an hour for 1/3 cost of GM. No leaks.

Well I gave the local guys a shot...... yeah. The front door chrome mouldings I want down from whoDeanie's suggested site are 63.58 each plus shipping. Local dealer wants 180 each..... The spare tire winch is 130 down south and it's 340 locally. I deal with the one girl at the local dealer and I like dealing with her but she says she can't even buy it for the money that place is charging.

Something is very wrong with this system, lol.

Oh well, down south it is.

Hmm. I don't think I can turn down free lol. I just modify them in about 2 minutes with a zip cut and then they work fine. But as they are out of the box they are junk.

the new safety lock deal is sure a pain. I've had to take it out twice now, first time I changed tire size and changed the spare, second time to install airbags. it did not survive the second removal.

ever had the cable break on the old style? I have....one hell of a bang and the mud filled wheel stood up went about a quarter mile, down into the ditch, across a set of RR tracks, thru a barb wire fence and out into some farmer's field. glad it went to that side....holy chit
