garmin rino gps mount

I bought a rino handlebar mount which I put on my sled. Just wondering if anyone has tried them because I'm worried about the plastic breaking.
I tied gps with a couple ties incase it does. I will post some pics later but
if anyone has info please let me know thanks

I have no experience with the mount, but just from looking at it, it appears to be in a bad spot. If you roll your sled, that is right at the contact point of the sled-snow.

I will remove it when I'm playing but want it for breaking trail while following old maps and when the weather socks in...but yes if I roll it I'm sure the mount will break that is why I will put some ties on it just for that reason.
I'm just wondering if that plastic will break at -10 after the first hard jolt.

My brother in law has been using a rhino for years and the mount has held up. However, I was just running under a powerline in Whitecourt, wasn't expecting much and then I rolled my sled and had it mounted like yours. I broke the knob off the back....I'd move it anyways to a spot that is safe and where you can see it. Just a suggestion...

maybe will fab up something next to my digitron so at least if I do roll it won't
destroy my gps. Trying to keep it visable and out of harms way is tough.

I have a Ram mount for my rino gps.
It is great, I mounted the handlebar attachment with the ball pointed down and the gps tucks up against my handlebar riser out of the way. When you want to use the gps, you can rotate it on the ball joint to almost any position. I also have a mount on a dirt bike and quad. It has seen some good crashes and one roll over. No damage to the gps or mount, very durable and I would highly recommend one.

I use the Rhino 120 on my quad - same mount as you've got. Works great - I'm also looking to mount the GPS on my M8.
Contrary to what most people believe, Grizzly's can NOT climb trees - hit a rut, bounced up a tree and rolled backwards over top of me - lost my pride and pushed my Rhino deep into the muskeg. lol Good times. Mount didn't last either. Went out and bought another one the next day at the Fishin' hole in Edm.

Great to have - but it's gotta be mounted where it isn't going to get hit by anything. RAM mounts are tougher - but really pricey. Let us know what you come up with.

I use the Rhino 110 on my quad - same mount as you've got. Works great on a quad - not sure bout a sled cuz of the Cat bars.

I usually keep my GPS in my mickey pocket - always figured that it might not work in the cold temps. Specs say it's good to -20C. But it's sure be handy on a sled (on the bars).

That seems to be the big push, as my buddies are now buying them as well. They tell me we will be able to see each other's location. Anyone confirm that it works? As for the Ram mount, love it.

They did not have any ram mounts at the fishing hole, out of stock.
Map town had the garmin mount I will let you know how it holds up.
My rino radio works great I got mine out of the states and it has the 5w
power so it will reach longer distances. Canadian models come with
2.5w power, some sort of regulation on them in canada. mine is the rino
530 and I love it, nice color screen easy to use and yes it shows other rino users and locations.

How does the battery hold up in the cold being mounted on the sled. I normally keep it in my inside pocket?

I tried mounting my Rhino on the bars of my Apex. Same mount as you have. Having it on the grab bar is a bad spot cause it gets in the way when you are sidehilling. I found it very hard to get a good grip on the grab bar even wuth just the mount there......worse when the GPS was clipped in.

I moved it to a clip on the shoulder strap of my backpack. That was my favorite spot until I broke the plastic clip when I bailed off.

A buddy drilled a hole on his M1000 and M7 right above the gauge and mounts his GPS there. He's never had a problem with it mounted there.

Mine is a garmin etrex legend but from the pics you get the idea.
I had it mounted the same on the rev and never had any problems with it getting knocked about.

that is a ram mount, I think I will return the one I got and pick-up a ram.
Look stronger and I will figure out a better place to mount

They have them at the fishing hole. WEM fishing hole has them the one on
97st was out.

My hubby and I use the Rino for sledding and quadding... it works great as far as I am concerned.
There is no lonlier feeling than being stuck somewhere out of view in the trees and wondering how long it will be before he finds me, or if he has gotten ADD and found some epic powder somewhere to distract him from my whereabouts!! (As an added precaution, I am sure to carry beer and food on my sled that he will eventually come looking for!)

I just hit a key on the GPS and it updates my location and then he can come to me. I can also send him text messages that pop up on the GPS which is mounted in front of him and he comes right away!! The radio feature works well and I find the unit really user friendly. Just my two cents...
