Ditto,.. we collect them on the way to pipestone creek here by wembly,.. usually enough to pay for a couple 26 while camping.
There will never be a clean trail or road,.. there are just too many inconsiderate people in this world. I wonder what they would do if others just drove by their house end threw out their empties
Hubby came home from ice fishing the other day...with tunnel bag full of beer cans and food cans that he took off of the lake!!! Not around the lake where they could be picked up in the spring...NO, on the lake where they would fall in the lake when the ice melts! WTF do people actually think? I take that back...they obviously don't.
I'm finding that there is more and more garbage on the trails as well...WTF! Hopefully people will clue in when they see others picking it up, but then again....
Yes it seems that no matter how many times this issue is talked about and signs are posted people just don't seem to get it.
For example We went out for a ride yesterday around the local lake and when we got to the 1 of the many ice fishing communities now all the shacks are gone it looked like a garbage dump on the lake and low and behold some 85 year old gentelman and his wife are cleaning this mess up and why (We stopped and helped) because it looked like SH%T from his window he said and I had to agree with him 9 garbage bags 3 bags of cans and a truck load of other SH%t wood, broken lawn chairs spare tires, 1 couch and that was just the stuff that wasn't frozen into the ice. What a SH%TTY deal that was and the ol boy doesn't even ice fish so come on people PICK UP YOUR SH%T.
My father in law took pictures and is going to try and get them and a right up run in the local paper. Because the people that had shacks there are all locals and they know who they are.
We race / camp and recreate all over this great land of ours and one thing that seems common all over the world regardless of race, greed, religion is that there are way too many inconsiderate people that just don’t give a Sh%t .
Had the good fortune to take our family to the big Island of Hawaii, found a isolated beach on the equivalent of Crown land. There were a few people camping there ….was the coolest place….a tropical setting, black sand beach, crystal clear water (the snorkeling was great) we even found a unique Hawaiian treasure called the Keanalele Water hole ( the Queens bath) a Lava tube the is fed by an under water stream so it’s about 4’ deep in fresh water ….a great place to dip into. Any way…when we started to look around a little closer there was garbage / bottles / cans/ food human waste…….some of it within a 100 feet from the large refuse bin and port-a-potties…i
t’s everywhere WTF what is wrong with people…..
- If you pack it in pack it out.
- Leave nothing behind and take only memories….
- No trace camping…I have left only foot prints, tire tracks and snow mobile tracks…
Was walking on a trail up to some falls with the family…when we got there one of our kids spotted another family walking along and one of their kids drops a bag of McDonalds garbage(pun intended) so my kid says in a rather loud voice “EXCUSE ME YOU ACCIDENTLY DROPPED YOUR BAG, picks it up and runs it over to the Dad……well the look on there e face was priceless….I think he was going to say something nasty until he notices that 30 other people are now watching as well……was so proud of him….and who says kids don’t pay attention….
As Rider posted above....WTF is wrong with peoples heads????? It is arse holes like this that are the first to complain when we end up getting user fee's to use our great outdoors because someone was too lazy to pick up their stuff and then they are the first to complain. Then you say, "User fee's....I pay taxes!" Listen up melted down piston head....."the user fee's are to pay someone to pick up yer garbage you left behind meat ball" ! Think about it folkes....to the people that do this sort of thing....no different than when you go quading or sledding in the mountians or ice fishing on a lake.....don't think for one minute that the can you stepped down in the snow or the foil wrapper off yer chocolate bar doesn't get noticed. They purposley fly these areas in the summer and you don't think they don't see this stuff ? If we want to continue to be able to enjoy our outdoor playgrounds.....be respectful and haul your chit out with you.....picking up someone elses garbage should not be left to locals or clubs and even other individuals! Fins and Feathers should be there watching from a distance with binoculors and when they drive off into the sunset and leave there junk behind....bust there sorry arses and give them a whopper of a fine for everyone to see in the local paper. Make an example of these sorts....not all of us PLEASE! Its too bad that it has to get to this but one way to ensure that rules are followed is to give out a big whopp Azz fine....hit them in the wallet....its the only thing that some people think about anymore....they definetly don't care about the people that have to pick up their mess but more importantly....it is going to be these people that ruin it for all of us! I see anyone pulling this chit and they'll get a bag full of garbage upside the head at mach speed....Thanks for the vent S&Mers....this makes my blood BOIL! Sensless moron's !!!!!!!!!!!!ARggggggggggggh !!!!!
It doesn't matter where you go, people are d!(kheads everywhere. We bring garbage out of the bush everytime we go riding. We went for a hike down to the ocean yesterday, and I was appalled at the crap people leave lying around. We found a car tire over a mile down a walking trail. Crazy. We even took a tricycle out of the bush at Medicine Lake once. Bottles and cans are bad enough, but this type of crap is ridiculous. Some people are pigs through and through. If they treat the outdoors as a garbage dump, I can't imagine what their own pig-sty looks like.
I used to be a trail steward for the Fall Creek trail area, I helped Wes Hansen who was the President of the society taking care of the area. You wouldn't believe the stuff he pulled out of there including old tent trailers, stolen vehicles, body parts (truck body that is) and all kinds of garbage. Once a year a skidder was hired for the big stuff, the little stuff was packed out by volunteers. The worst offenders were the Jeep Jamboree group, they were like a hurricane going through the bush.
