Is it possible to get these barbed rivets out without damaging the handle?

Is it possible to get these barbed rivets out without damaging the handle?

Find a Allan key that fits tightly in the rivet hole. Then heat that Allen key till it’s glowing red set it in the rivet for 10 or 20 seconds. It will heat up and melt the plastic so you can pull the rivet without drilling it. The plastic will cool all jagged and still except another rivet when you put it back together.

I have a propane torch with a tiny pencil flame and was able to put heat down the centre of the rivet and pry them out. Thanks for the tip.
