I know.. I know, that it will eventually be a fact that in the future all sled manufacturers will incorporate the 4 banger and phase out the
2 smokers... we will see..\

But for your entertainment, and good reading, here is a page that looked interesting.. i could see a motor 1/2 that size in a sled.. will it be reliable?? de-tuned perhaps/of course. Check out the vid also.

The Tech Fest That Is A V6 F1 Engine May Make Your Brain Implode - Car Throttle

Thoughts? Perhaps someday we can make a 4 stroke do what we want..in every way.

i don't think so ..2strokers are gaining popularity again in the motocross bikes…High output 4 bangers are high maintenance .my 2 cents.Moto GP bikes back in the day had 500cc 2 smokers putting 210 +hp to the ground!!

I believe one day we will only have the option of 4 strokes from manufacturers, its the way of the EPA to mandate it. Might be 10 yrs, might be 50 yrs, but it will happen.

if you read the specs on the engine pressures, its something like 200 bar, which is over 2000 psi. The motor blocks will even be suspect at that kind of pressure, I would foresee very short service life and subsequent engine failures on most of the components at those pressures and rpm.

The way of the future for 4 strokes IMO is the 3 cylinder's like Doo's 900 ACE motor and the Yammy Genesis 130, both with boost. Both Cat and Doo have 4 strokes but they are heavier, with the new SR Viper, Yammy has proven that you can have a 500 lb 4 stroke sled using a 3 cylinder 4 stroke engine.

Yes it will happen in time look back to the 60's or 70's wear u had a big engine for big horsepower now look at what they have u turn on a laptop and crank up the hp in 10 seconds so I'm sure they will make a small engine with big power. The biggest problem we have is are we going to have any wear to ride, it seems we are not educating the sledders u take it in take it out. To many tree hugers out their and they are winning and all they need to say is their closing the area for carribo area so we lose.

Depends on whos making these motors. My wifes 2.3L v6 mercedes has like ....200 hp ? Its a little rocket. Oil change once a year and takes 8L of oil.

Say what you will about japaneese motors but man those germans can make motors. On another level.

I road a 450 and owned a 250 2 smoke. 450 imo is not a direct replacement, still a learning curve switching one to the other. Still liked the 250 two stroke better.

Merc CLA 45 AMG:
CLA 45 AMG

Typically AMG: the most powerful series production four-cylinder engine in the world.

The power density of 133 kW (181 hp) is also absolutely unrivalled. In this discipline, the new AMG high-performance turbo engine can compete with the most powerful super sports cars. The AMG 2.0-liter turbo engine, with a maximum output of 265 kW (360 hp) and up to 450 Newton meters of torque, is the most powerful turbocharged four-cylinder engine in series production anywhere in the world.

The nytro and doo 1200 motors weigh within 5 lbs of each other at around 130lbs. The cat is heavier I understand at around 160lbs. I can't recall how each are dressed but I know my 1200 motor was 131lbs with the intake and manifold attached.
Doo had a sub 500lbs 4 stroke....5 years ago...499lbs 09 1200 tnt. I had one and started one of my builds from it..scaled 497lbs without fuel.
