Im looking at the Front-Arm Mounting Location on my 1993 EXT550 Mountain Cat 136", and I see what looks like just a plastic plug covering a hole in the tunnel... This plug sits directly under the bolt that holds the front arm assembly in place... My question is.. is if this "hole" I see is another mounting location? If I move the front arm assembly down to this hole, will it change my Track pressure any?? The sled seems to "Dive" into the snow and was wondering if the amount of track Pressure had anything to do with it... Any help is Great!!

Check to see that there is another hole on the other side as well and that these lower holes are re-inforced like the original mounting holes. I would go ahead and mount the front arm in these lower holes. You will have less ski pressure and the sled should work better in the powder. Just be carefull in the twisties under power as the sled may want to go straight a bit more and will require more body transfer weight on the front when cornering. I've done this mod on Polaris and Ski-doo sleds with great results.....

Thanks for confirmation... Yes it is reinforced and yes there is one on the other side.... I'm planning on making some drop brackets for the rear to get the track out of the tunnel a bit more... as it sits its a little too low for me, plus I plan on going to an 8 tooth driver to accomidate a 2" Track.... Any tips on how to fab up some Drop Brackets???

Do a search of some of the sled shops like mountain magic or specialty sleds. You may be able to buy these or failing that see how the shops make them. You want them strong and riveted to the tunnel and the footboards. Even use the original mounting location with an extra bolt to hold them in place. You can have them deep below the tunnel with 2-3 holes for even more drop.

LOL I seem to be able to keep the old ones alive.... back when i was in Jr High ( the EXT was still my dads pride and joy, he is currently running Doo's)(sorry Bernoff) I took the sled he grew up with, a 1972 Moto-Ski 440Fan-cooled... Was a fun sled, until I put too hot of plug in her.... Ya the EXT was always my fav when I grew up, now I get to enjoy without Dad pullin on my ear each time I get theCat stuck!!!!
