Avalanche Information for Snowmobilers

The Canadian Avalanche Association, BRP/Skidoo and Banner Recreational Products are presenting a three hour information session on avalanche awaremess. "Avalanche Information for Mountain Snowmobilers" will provide snowmobilers with an informative, interactive evening on avalanche awareness and safety resources currently available to the recreational snowmobiler. We will present information on beacons, probes, airbag systems and a video on how an avalanche beacon search works. It is a FREE presentation sponsored by Banner Recreational Products in Kelowna. One Night Only - Thursday, Oct 14th from 7:00PM to 10:00PM. It will be an engaging, informative and often entertaining great evening. You know guys, I'm not trying to be critical about the free avy course the other night but, in all honesty you can learn just as much on line as this "Avy Awareness" course had to offer. I've done some free stuff on line and practiced up in the hills with my beacons and I didn't really get much out of the session. The Gal who did the session was excellent and I think we have to applaud Bombardier in making a concious effort to begin educating sledders about the inherent dangers involved with sledding in the back country but.... I think a person has to spend some serious cash to really get fully educated about avalanches. I do think there were some fellows there that did get something out of it though. Just my opinion.:beer:
