Guys:

New Superduty just came in. What has everyone done on the extended warranty and service plans?

I will be keeping this truck for a while. Daily driver for the next three years, and then farm truck after that.

The 7 yr/200,000 extended warranty is $5,700 and the prepaid service is $5,800 (good for 25 services). I had the prepaid service on the wife's Flex and it has been great (not as expensive as this though).

Any experience with them?

Greg

My 2011 super duty extended warranty was only$4100 and good to 300000km. Has the price gone up? Or did I actually not get screwed on one of my purchases?

wow thats a lot of money for service and warranty, do you expect to spend $11500 over the life of the truck? unless the motor goes out of warranty nothing will cost that much. even then when you are out of warranty you can always get a rebuilt motor for a good deal.

but if your heart is set id say read the fine print very closely... they may try some funny stuff on you in the future

If you have a good dealer and plan on keeping for the long haul yes. But beware that all the service that is recomended by Ford will need to be carried out. Can be very pricey.
NO MODIFICATIONS at all to the unit . Can get right down to tire size and grip on the tires in they want to be a pain. Read the small print as it states all this and everything has to be Ford approved and installed at dealer.
As far as the warranty cost i would shop around as the prices can move around alot.

The new ones have two major problems pressed on cam gear slipping and dropping glow plugs both end in catastrophic failure

Shop around. They can give you a better deal on the warranty. I have been buying both on my last 3. It seems like a good value

Remember you also have till about 1 month before your warranty ends to add the additional warranty. Also shop around.

I don't believe that the new ford diesel has any major problems like the previous ones did. Get the prepaid maintenance and don't bother with extended warranty. These new diesels in the fords have better reliability than any of the other.

It's a Ford! Get as much warranty as you can get! I will never own one again! I would buy A dodge for the engine and a Chevy/Gmc for everything else IMO.

I bought the service package good to 200k. It was the same price you were quoted. I think it is a good deal but I never added it up! Since it is already paid for it doesn't hurt so much when I drop the truck off and pick it up with no attached bill.
