Flooded ATV question

I have a friend that flooded out his Honda Forman 400 Bad! He was told to put kerosine in the crankcase to disapate the water, not running it of course. Any tips??

Never heard the kerosene idea, drain the oil and filter(think honda has an internal) stand it up on the tail to get all the water out of the exhaust so It doesn't keep running backing the cylinder pull the plug and manually roll it over of a few times. Drop it back down drain the carb prolly water there too put some crap oil in it and pull it over and over till water stops shooting out the hole, drain oil and refill, roll it over again till water is gone. I have used a microtorch to dry the holes out and a sled before worked awesome put some fresh gas in it put everything back together and try to fire it. If no start pull the plug check for moisture keep drying it out. If it starts get it up to temp and change the oil again reinstall filter. Make sure you check diff fluids if it was in the engine it prolly also went down the diff breathers. Take it for a ride and check the oil again any white foam on the oil change it again.

I'm guessing he was following you around eh! The kerosine idea works if you put a match to it right away,then head to your local ARTIC CAT dealer!

This was out my Cadomin, his name is Doug, it went down the river quite a ways, it was the atv or him so he finnaly let it go. That may be the picture.

Yup that was the Dougs bike in the pic.... they did get her fired and he rode it all the next day

I use ATF as the flushing oil. Then replace with new filter and mobil 1 synthetic...

guys i know use diesel as a flush. they drain the oil and fill with diesel (running it for about 30 sec), then drain and refill with diesel ( run for about 30 sec), then drain and fill with cheap oil ( ride it until oil is hot), drain and refill good oil (we use amsoil).

Hmmm never heard of the diesel either I wonder why? is it because of cost? I would clean any oil sludge built up, but I would think it may starve the bearings of lubercation. Well whatever home remedies you use make sure the specific gravity is less than 10#/per gallon cause you want the oil to float on the water pushing it down to drain 1st then you can see if there is any water in it cause it will always come out 1st.

We've Used Diesel To Clean Out Inside Automotive Engines That are badly sludged... And We Used It To Clean Out A Couple Of Boat Motors Before Too... Just Don't Run Too Long... About 30 Seconds To A Minute Is All Thats Required.
