So are you the one doing the shooting or the one that got shot.You have to admit its funny that bear hunters are getting mauled by bears and then shoot each other trying to save thire buddys.You must be one the ones deemed competent to hunt bear.You will probably make a good snack.

And this isn't really random its in the news and apparently it happens a lot.One guy was even out with 2 expert bear hunters and well he,s now bear food.

My son/ hunting partner and I had this discussion last night. If I were being mauled by a grizzly, I would expect him to shoot it. Just hoping he has better luck than the mentioned fellow. And I agree JJack is the new willy.

Your right its a horrible situation,all these dumbasses running around in the bush with guns.These people are out for trophys to show the world how great of a hunter they are.Guesse the bears wernt impressed.

From what I understand the bullet passed through the bear and into the guys leg.

Stars from Calgary flew the guy.

At at least he is alive and will heal up.

One thing for sure is that there are many people out in the woods around Fernie. When I go mountain biking there, we see the odd grizzly from time to time.

They tend to get used to humans, if you make noise, they usually stay away. Hunters do the opposite. Right now they are foraging, getting ready to hibernate, so they are a little more dangerous.

To get into a situation with an animal (males can weigh up to 1500+ pounds) that large, things can go wrong in a hurry. I am sure he didn't spend a lot of time taking aim..

If I was in that situation, I would have no problem taking friendly fire to prevent this beast from mauling me to death.

That's great that you discussed this with your son,but did you talk about how to shoot the animal.You cant stand back and let one fly that's how people get shot.You have to be ready when this happens.The person being mauled is depending on the other so what are you going to do.

So a couple guys hunting elk stumble across a male grizz who probably had a fresh kill nearby or something similar and get attacked they turn into trophy hunters in the media?
When I grow up I hope I can be as cool handed as JJack and be able to shoot the eyes out of a bear rollng around on the ground with my hunting buddy.

Ahh now your just making things up,Ive seen grizzlys fighting and I have nothing but respect for them,along with a pizzed off moose.Would I be coolhanded as you say,Hell no,but I do know what I,m going to.Shoot the eyes out of a bear your dreaming and definitely not going in bush with you
