In all honesty.... that was one of my funnest trips back in 97.
I left my 97 Summit, and my friends left their 97 XLT's at home. I took my 95 Formula SL 500 fan, and they had 94 Poo's, 1 - 440 fan, and 1 - 388 fan long track. We went to the Inn on the Border, in early March. The ride had nothing to do with HP or add on's. It was a great extra long weekend, to see and learn from each other's riding style. I'd love to do that again :D

That's what I am talking about! Out for fun with the boys! These days people can buy themselves skill and it has taken the fun and challenge out of the game.

Don't even start to think I haven't taken a brovor two.... lol I own two places they don't belong or a 91 phaser I own one and man that was a fun sled.... but end of the day I still think a person needs to do mods to make a sled work... the phaser has a pipe and had bolt on paddles ..... and all that stuff... ( anyone remember bolting on paddles!!!) a 100 hp screaming along... anyways I still like to go and ride the low hp sleds and burn off any carbon that has built up, but on my daily rider I need it to work. Factory doesn't work good enuf for me.

Weird, I found the biggest issue with 90% of the mountain sleds is the pilot. All the new sleds will go way more places than they should and are more than capable in the mountains, you just need the right people at the controls.

It's kind of funny when you are riding a stock sled and the turbo guys are struggling to keep up...

.
On another note, for everyone that is tired of Maxwell's never ending verbal diarrhea, if you go view his profile you can choose to add him to your ignore list.
Oh I love that I don't need a
turbo but good clutching and drop a few lbs some simple suspension work and turbos guys hate my sled....but still its all in making what you have work the best it CAN.. and the bottle helps a bit.... 30 hp on tap.

My bad t, accidentally clicked love you post as I was scrolling down thru.

I have a question for you doo guys. Since you love to bash this so called "race inspired" chassis, please explain to me why my "race inspired" sled is no good? I don't understand. It seems like you think u know what you're talking about but I'm having a hard time finding out facts from your point of view. I can lay my sled over as easy as any, my shocks are fine, they work for me and most everyone I know, my rear suspension gets up on the snow just fine. It seems to me that you just dislike cat, which is fine, but to imply that it's garbage doesn't seem fair to me without a reasonable explanation. I'm not trying to start anything but I think it's time you started backing up your statements instead of just blurting out false accusations. Your xm may be out of the box ready to ride because doo had to give you a pivoting suspension and make the front end as narrow as a snow hawk. That's fine. But think about the xp for a second, maxwell u said yourself you're after replacing pretty much everything on your old xp. I love my cat. I rode an xm for a little bit to give it a try, other then the handlebar setup which I can't get used to, I thought it was a good out of the box sled and I'm sure that they will work for most guys who buy them. But I cannot criticize them because I haven't ridden one long enough to do so fairly. Now the question I ask you is, how much seat time do u have on a cat, or on a poo, to justify you having these opinions? I rode the xm for maybe a half hour, and I felt awkward on it, but I can't tell you that the sled is trash cuz of the pivoting suspension... I can also understand that if the shoe was on the opposite foot here, you riding a cat or poo may seem a bit awkward to you because of the different geometries, so if u stated that the cat and doo are just not the sleds for you then I wouldn't have a problem. Every new chassis design has always needed some minor adjustments. Maybe one day maxwell when you take off your training wheels you can come to revy and we'll put our sleds thru their paces, see which brand is superior, maybe one day you will accept my invitation but I doubt it, I guess all we can do is sit behind our pc's/phones and bash one another ....

Put it this way... I would rather have a "race inspired" chassis than a playground inspired chassis haha joking but not really

Lol sorry to burst your bubble but other than a can the XM is ready to ride. I bash a new sled every season for 80 days and the XM is truly ready to ride.

No clutching changes to make
No burning belts
Gobs of power
Superior handling
Best fit and finish
Smooth suspension
Best traction ad flotation

Sorry but there's barely anyone modding the new XM it just doesn't need anything.

Pretty much everyone that owns a new poo or cat is either doing a track swap, running boards, par heads and pipe kits etc to try and make them mountain ready because they just flat out aren't.

Your buddy is right he shouldn't have to spend a dime on a mountain sled.

Edit. I apologize I did have to purchase scratchers.........

i guess if nothing else there is something poo though of that doo didnt lol

This is because of the Polaris extremely small cooling area in the tunnel. 2 small tubes. This is where they shed 10-15 lbs but sacrifice on trail performance. I can run an Etec with a 3" track and no snowflap without cooling issues

i wouldnt say that, i rode early dec on a 13 pro with 0 issues cooling wise at all, my buddy on a 13 hcr overheated twice.

All I know is that Poo and Cat should put a 16" wide track under their sleds, or at least offer the option. My last trip riding with a few XM's in the trees opened my eyes to what that extra bit of floatation can do.

I watched 509 volume 7 today. No stock sleds to be found, so obviously OP is right.

I do sled for work and I will tell you stock will never last with the amount I ride and the type of riding we do. Again I will say sleds are way closer then they ever have been before. Why cant they just get the clutching right or drive shafts glued right or what ever it is, but they all need work.

Hamster,
I've never met maxwell, but from his posts on the forum, I would say he is passionate about the sport, and perhaps ski-doo. Nothing wrong with that, it is a free country, and we are entitled to our opinions (so far, anyway...) I ride a pro-climb and it suits me fine, just as the polaris loyalist covet the RMK, and the ski-doo guys worship the summit - not sure what yamaha has to treasure in the mountain lineup out of the box....
My 2 cents, don't take it so seriously. The fact of the matter is that all of the 2013 sleds are better then prevoius models. The best thing about someone coming out with a new product is that the other manufacturers have to try & "one up" it, as that is what drives the consumer market. Cat had good sales last year with the new chassis and turbo 4 stroke, but they rushed it to market and had some problems. Doo had thier issues in 2007 & 2008, Polaris hasn't built a reliable 800 in a while, but it sure is "flickable" (wife has one). The Xm is working well from what I've seen on the snow as it should, as it is a reworked XP chassis that has been on the snow for 5 years. The pro is getting lighter (3rd year in production), and Cat has made significant improvements to the 2013. (Thank god) Yamaha's quality has always been there, but not everyone wants a four stroke when there is lightweight two stoke options available.
