Why do you have to run the stock guage pod? Can you replace it with an aftermarket product like KOSOs G2?

One of the guys i ride with doesnt have the stock , he farmerized a tack to the bars. He doesnt have your mods and im not positive how he did it, if it was plug and play or if he had to cut and splice.

If you do change out what will you do with the stock one? :d
