Has anyone done this mod? Basically you silicone the 2 base gaskets together and add a 2 degree timing key, clean up the exhaust ports and the gain is supposed to be around 8-10 hp, what do you guys think?I already have the y-pipe boondocker box, can and the opened up airbox. If anyone has done this, how has it been? Thanks

Well I did rip my engine apart and I am now doing the porting, I am only afraid of the timing advance and that is why I am wondering if anyone has tried this, any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks

I know of a guy that told me yah that woirks great on theM1000's but then in the next sentence he told me that he blew his motor up twice last year.. Also by raising the cylinders up you would be taking compression out of it which it's already a little low on.. the porting yes but iwould not due the base gskt thing or timing key.. Also i talked to an engine builder about the timing key after i talked to this other guy and the engine builder also said don't do it.. If it was just a drag race situation then yah but other than that no..

I thought the same thing, I know the compression is low on these, but I wondered if the timing getting a little advanced would make up for it in power, I have a freind with an m7 and he has a 2 degree key and a shaved head and he has ran it for 2 years reliably and it pulls like a freight train but on the other hand the last experience I had with a timing key on a 900 king kat was not so good. I am also debating running an extra base gasket and shaving the head and leaving the key out. What do you think of that?

I don,t know about timing key but I just spent a lot of money getting my engine ported he also clipped head for more compression.I could see adding extra gaskets if you wre trying to lower compression for adding a turbo.
Good luck.
Cheers

well I have phoned around a bit and I have decided to give it a try, hope it works! I am also going to inquire at the sled show and see what people think, I have not put it together yet so I will wait till after the show and decide, I was hoping more of you would have tried this and made my decision a little easier!!
