notice a few medical emergencies popping up lately, was thinking there has to be something you can do if your long way from medical help.

Burns-

run cold clean water over the burn area for 10-15 minutes.
slather yellow mustard over the burn area, cover lightly with a clean cloth/gauze something that should not stick to wound.
call for medical help
keep mustard on as long as possible. relieves pain quickly, reduces swelling, scaring and infection.

you can also use raw honey. it will also cool the burn, relieve pain and is natures best antiseptic healer. may be better than alot of store bought ointments.

running the cool water part is right, lightly covering with a dry clean cloth is right, putting home remedy on the burn is not advised. Just one more thing the doctors need to deal with when you arrive.

Imo anyone who does outdoor recreational activities should be taking a first aid/cpr training class.

Also having a good first aid kit at camp and a small one in a OHV.

Burns for example can be level 1,2 or 3.

Best to read up on treatments before these occur. As improper initial care can cause complications after.

as stated, best treatment is to get to medical facilities, but in the mean time these will work. when was the last time, anyone carried a doctors bag medical kit, let alone a first aid kit with burn treatment?

this thread may not be for them, but for the average joe, with limited training. as most have mustard and a few may have honey in their trailer or close by.

this thread intent is to give the average joe some options to an emergency, not to discuss medical procedures.

WTF ....if Joe average burns himself bad , there WILL be medical procedures .
Best to rely on a trained professional 's advice not some natural doctor Google chit ..... Imo

Keep it clean & gauze and off to emergency ASAP.

In the absence of medical aide, aloe vera and coconut butter will treat burns in the interim.

This will work, aloe vera cools the burn and promotes healing, cocoa butter heals the burnt dry skin. Also use a antiseptic to stop infection
Good info

The tumeric in mustard promotes quick healing and pain relief. The properties in honey, are antiseptic, promotes healing and further cools and moisturizes the burnt skin area, seek medical attention asap

For those who have tried everything on wounds, sores or cracks that will not heal, balsam pitch will stop the pain in seconds and heal it up in days.

another burn remedy mentioned is colloidal silver, have never seen it, but sounds easy to make.

raw honey has lots of uses, doesn't go bad, sweetens your coffee, is benign agent, which will do no harm to your injury.
Benadryl taken every 4 hr over a 24hr period will limit the swelling and secondary tissue damage. drink plenty of fluids.

do our own research. seek medical attention asap

Generally you don't want to put anything on a burn, and NEVER put anything other than a dry dressing on a full or partial thickness burn that has blistered or destroyed the skin. Cool it off with cool water to stop the thermal injury, cover it with a dressing and get to a hospital ASAP.
as for the witch doctor burn remedies like honey etc, knock yourselves out but none of them are recommended by any medial professionals. Your skin is your first layer of defence for keeping infectious nasties out of your body. If it's compromised, slathering it in your grandmas home remedy stuff is asking for trouble.

I would have no problem with using the honey, shock and infection are the biggest problem with most burns. honey will take care of infection,

the premise to this thread is absence of immediate medical attention, and using what is available. do your own research, get to DR asap.

FYI colloidal silver is a crock of sh!t and the FDA actually banned its use in over the counter medications on September 16th 1999. It can however be used in dietary supplements so long as no claim is made of its effectiveness in the treatment of disease. Also continuous use of colloidal silver turns the skin grey-blue a condition called argyria.
