Crowsnest Pass (Blairmore/Coleman) and west to Sparwood, then 43 kms north to Elkford.
If you have a registered sled with plate and insurance, you can ride from town and ride the town trails with some limitations. Koko Claims is one of our high elevation riding areas at 6700'. The Crossing Creek trail leads to Koko Claims and into the Bull River. There are several basins off this trail (Crossing Lakes, Smith, Mear Lake, Tundra, Wayne's World, and the Gorge) and some are for advanced riders only. The Crossing Creek trail has many large, active avalanche chutes on it and some are down and some are waiting to come down. This naturally changes as the season/storms progress.
There is valley riding but it is not the best right now as we require more snow. The high elevation riding is great but a newbie to the area will be hard pressed to find alpine riding. This area is not like Revy!! Good luck and ride safe.
There are a few of us from this area and go back often to ride if you need or want a guide PM myself, mattmedic or bearclaw and we will try to meet up there with you sometime....
Happy trails...
PS there are a heck of a lot more areas than koko or crossing creek too...you could ride for days and days and not hit an area twice...line creek, nine mile, sheep mountain and the list goes on.....
