Mike Riddle (from Edmonton) recently won the first major halfpipe skiing event of the year on December 21st, at the Dew Tour in Breckinridge, Colo. As a result of his win and the run itself Mike was nominated for "Powerbar Athlete of the Year"
There are other nominees and the winner will be determined by an on-line voting poll. The polling closes in about a week on the 14th of January. If you are interested in viewing his run and have the time to vote for Mike, I have included the link for the website.
Mike is a really good kid. He is extremely dedicated to the sport, and is become one of the top guys in “new school” skiing which has been largely dominated by Americans.
He is the only Canadian to be nominated, and this award would be something that he could likely parlay into increased exposure and sponsorship for himself (and take some of the burden off his Mom and Dad). If you could register and vote that would be great.
