Decided that it was time to shed a few more pounds of the old edge. Basically the same hood as SB, but I didn't cut out the vent openings completely. Used a 2 1/2" hole saw for the openings, trying to keep as much strength in the hood as possible without restricting air flow. Still need to install the air shelf and the windshield. Will continue to update this project and others.

Darren, when you go to fit the hood it takes some time to decide where it sits best. I did a number of small trimings around the steering collar before I got it right.

Hood looks great....like the extra support using holes.

How well did they hole saw cut?

The hole saw worked really well. I haven't trimmed the hood as of yet, as you can see this one is about 2-3" tall than the stocker. I won't do any trimming until I know exactly what my plans are for the mill. I may change to the twin pipes, so a little extra hight would be benificial.

I like the extra height on the hood with pipes, lets the air move more freely (IMO)
Hood doesn't look tall at all when your being towed or slam into a tree...tree happend in McBride last ride when I got bucked off hitting a stump...boys liked that one...lol...

Not a mark...I've had it off a number of times and treat is a bit rough and so far am very pleased with the way it stands up. I'm sure it's going to scratch up over time so I will have to find a way to polish it up.
One of the reasons I bought it was what Cat900 did to his....here is his crash vide, you've probably already seen it but it's worth watching again...awesome as he smokes a tree and not a bit of damage to the hood.

Real simple, just before you turn up the trail to the cabin at Renshaw I thought I would scoot up and leave a mark in the clear cut area. Not far up I hit a stump about the thickness of your arm hidden in the now....wow did the sled fly except we didn't land together. sSed ghostrides to the bottom with Crazywheeler laughing his azz off at me...There are other photos that I'm sure the boyz will post now.

As the project continues....Decided to opt for a Boss highrise for the edge. The boss is 3" higher and possibly 2 to 3lbs lighter at the very most... this will vary with other sleds... seeing that the Vertical Escape was a snowchecked lite weight seat. The greatest feature is the hight and narrow stance. The stock seat was like sitting in a lazy boy recliner and the Boss is like a bar stool. Should help alot when going from sitting to standing. For the price this a must for the old chassis, but I my mind needed for the newer rider forward sleds....

HEY...that's my missing Dewalt Radio on the shelf that was stolen from my break in at the lake.
First, shop look awesome.
Second, the seat looks great. I know from my own stocker that the low rise sucks. Your gonna love it.
